> 3 dayI never managed to get the focus to work after trying several depths of field (distance from the screen) and using the very limited manual adjuster on the back of the projector. The reviews online were so positive about this product, so I dont understand why my model was so out of focus...

> 3 dayAfter having this projector for a better part of a month, this is definitely not a high end unit, but is respectable for the cost given it’s native resolution is 1080p. Some of the biggest drawbacks for the unit is the remote control which should be a UHF remote rather than infrared, it was a constant pain to have to point the remote at the unit to get it to focus while youre trying to pay attention to the picture on the screen and there are really no small adjustments that can be made at the unit from what I could tell. If you misplace the remote, you’re toast. Given the fact that most projectors don’t come with a built in speaker, this one does have one, but they would have been better to have left it out as its not impressive and the sound quality is not the qreatest nor does it produce much volume. Besides, with projectors, you are likely to be hooking these up to an external sound system anyway to get that robust Dolby Sound that you would come to expect when you are playing digital media these days. Even with its Dolby Sound support, it does not offer much support for the various Dolby formats. It was nice to be able to connect a bluetooth sound bar or use the external jack to setup a basic speaker. I would consider the NexiGo PJ20 more of a recreational system. For its cost, it is great for using in the back yard or party situation when you have guests and just want to entertain people. If something were to happen to it, it’s not like you are out big bucks as this unit is very budget friendly. But if you’re serious about your digital content, this isn’t for you. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles you would expect of most high-end projectors, the picture is decent, it’s brightness is okay, and it’s resolution will play most of the shelf media decently. But I didn’t see that crispness in the finer details, the colors were a little muted, and it just wasn’t as bright as I would have liked it. It seems well built and it does offer various setup modes which is a plus. I was disappointed that even though it would connect to the wifi, that you couldn’t update the software or firmware of the unit via this connection, it had to be done with an external usb. Overall, would I purchase the NexiGo PJ20 as my primary projector with a good quality sound system meant for a theater style room? Probably not. However, I think it does have an advantage of being a decent project for the money for those that are budget conscious and just want to enjoy a large picture as long as they don’t set their expectations too high. I think NexiGo is heading in the right direction, it should be interesting to see what other products follow this one and whether they can improve while keeping the costs reasonable for the masses.

> 3 dayIt works as intended, can’t complain much about the video quality for the price, but this is a loud projector, I can hear it from the other room when this is running.

> 3 dayPicture The picture this projector puts out definitely looks like a respectable 1080P image and the brightness was definitely more than some of the cheap mini projectors youll find just below this price point. That being said this is a typical projector that you should run at night or in a dark room. Overall colors looked good and I didnt feel like I was missing any detail in the image even in dark scenes. Its not going to be a 4K HDR image but if youre looking for a fun outdoor projector this one wont disappoint. Audio The speaker included on this projector is also a pretty typical 5Watt speaker. It gets loud enough to hear it but not much more than that. The good news is that it doesnt try to be a BASS speaker so the sound was very clear and I could hear dialogue well. Immersive Dolby Audio claims The ads on this Amazon page are a bit deceptive though claiming Immersive Dolby Audio. Heres the truth on that and its not all bad. To begin with the Projector itself only has 1 speaker so youre not going to get anything immersive or surround from that its just physics at that point. However, if you have a movie file on a USB drive that has an AC3 (Dolby) audio track the Projector can read that file and play the audio through the single built-in speaker (mono) and its not going to win any awards but it plays pretty clearly so its enough to enjoy a movie if you have no other option. Additionally, you can connect a speaker system via the 3.5mm headphone jack output or Bluetooth and you can get a much better sound that way from the original Dolby audio track although it will still only be stereo and not Dolby surround. Unfortunately, this projector does not have a Digital audio out option (like Optical, Coax, or HDMI ARC) so its not possible for the projector to output surround sound audio from a USB input source. That being said if you plan to use this outdoors you wont have walls to bounce sound off of with a soundbar and its a pain to setup and arrange 5.1 speakers unless this is going to be a permanent setup. If you must have surround sound though youre not out of luck. The projector has HDMI inputs so if you have a soundbar or surround receiver with HDMI IN and OUT you can connect HDMI OUT from a movie player (BluRay Player, Roku, Chromecast, Xbox, PS5, etc.) to HDMI IN to a soundbar/receiver and then HDMI OUT from the receiver to HDMI IN on the Projector. At that point though the audio processing has nothing to do with the Projectors support of Dolby and everything to do with the sound equipment connected before the Projector. One nice benefit of having Dolby support in the Projector though is if you have an HDMI device that only outputs Dolby (Old Chromecasts used to be guilty of doing this) youll actually be able to hear the audio even if its only stereo at best. Cheaper projectors you might find on Amazon sometimes don’t support Dolby over HDMI and have no audio when connected to older Chromecasts which was a shame because Chromecasts are a small and convenient device to connect to a Projector and stream with. Bluetooth Audio Setting up the Bluetooth audio with this projector was fairly easy using the included remote and the menu. However, I did notice a slight delay between that picture and the audio behind it. I was using a Polk Magnifi Max soundbar to test this feature so other devices may have better Bluetooth capabilities. I’m not a fan of Bluetooth audio myself so I quickly switched to HDMI after that test. Remote The remote control for this Projector is small and to the point which I like because there’s not too many buttons. The Menu/Input button took the longest to figure out because it’s a single press for inputs and press and hold for the menu. My initial setup of this Projector was as a rear projection where the projector is behind the screen in a room and to my surprise, I was able to control the projector without having to walk around the screen. This might be a different story if I was outside without walls to bound the IR light off of but I was impressed none the less. The remote requires two AAA batteries that are not included. Focusing Nexigo has opted to use a motor inside the Projector to control the Focus ring and as such you can’t focus the projector manually. The remote has dedicated buttons for focusing and for this reason I would recommend making sure this is one remote that never gets lost and here’s why: Your only other option for focusing the projector is to use the touch sensitive buttons on top of the projector to navigate an onscreen menu. The same onscreen menu you probable can’t see because the picture is out of focus (see the problem?). While focusing the projector there is a nice test focus image with text in the center and all four corners so you can get everything in focus easily so that’s a nice touch. Maybe it’s the old DSLR photographer in me but I just wish there was a manual focus option. Projection Distance This Projector is not a short throw as some of the marketing images on the Amazon page might have you thinking. I have an 84” screen and in a normal size living room I struggled to get it to fill the middle of the screen. According to the manual (yes this Projector actually has a nice manual included) you would have to have the projector 9 feet from the screen to reach 80” and 21.8 feet away to reach the maximum 200” screen size. So plan screen size accordingly to room size for this projector. Digital Zoom I’m only calling this out because of how the photo in the Amazon marketing portrays this feature. What this feature does is, if you’re playing a movie from a USB drive, and you want to zoom in on a part of the picture it will make that section of the image larger (like a photo crop) and gives you a tool to pan the image while the overall size of the projected image on the screen remains the same. Zoom does not increase the size of the projected image on the screen. Only moving the projector further away from the screen will enlarge the projected image. Music Playback I saw in the manual that this Projector supports FLAC audio files so I decided to test it. I put my copy of Pink Floyd’s Dark side of the Moon on a USB drive in FLAC format and it played just fine using the remote and onscreen menu for the USB. It even had a nice visualization while playing (in review photos). USB Support One thing the manual lacks is specifications on what USB formats the Projector supports. Because of the large file size of 1080P movie files I was hoping it would support either NTFS or EXFAT since FAT32 has a 4GB size limitation for a single file. I tested NTFS first and that worked so I didn’t bother testing EXFAT. I was also able to play an MKV file with H264 video and AC3 audio. Other notes This Projector was packaged well and arrived without a scratch from Amazon. It has a dust filter on the fan intake that ejects on the bottom and came with what look like long q-tips to clean it out which I think is a nice touch. You just have to be careful when picking up the Projector because it’s very easy to accidentally eject the filter while picking it up. Fan noise is noticeable but not harsh and fades into the background while watching a movie. It’s best if you can have a rear projection setup to get the fan away from you while audio comes from a speaker system that’s also away from the Projector fan. Summary (TLDR) At this price point ($150 - $200) this is a respectable projector with plenty of features to be able to play the movies, music, photos or games you want to from the devices you own. It will work best outdoors at night or in a dark room. It requires considerable distance from the screen to reach its full size so make sure you have the space required. The built-in speaker will work in a pinch but I would highly recommend connecting an external speaker system for better sound. If I could change anything about it, I would add a digital audio out (optical, coax, or HDMI ARC) and an option to manually focus the projector so I don’t have to worry as much about losing the remote. Support for a tripod mount might be nice too but it’s on the heavy side for that. Overall though a solid Projector at this price point for making family memories with a home theater.

> 3 dayThis projector is super easy to setup and picture quality is awesome. It has wireless casting for your devices so that you can easily show pictures or mirror your device for meetings. Relatively inexpensive projector that can be used for so many different things!

> 3 dayConsider this projector as a way to broadcast whatever you are watching on your phone or computer (or whatever peripheral holds your multimedia content.) So if you can watch a streaming media service on your phone, this projector will just broadcast what you see right onto the screen. I have a Samsung Galaxy S21, and I tested it with both Miracast (where both the projector and my phone are connected to the same network, and thats how the projector gets the signal), and with a wired HDMI connection straight off my phone. I did have to disable SamsungDEX on my cell phone (Settings/Connected Devices/Samsung DeX, disable Auto start). Brightness is great, sound is on par with other projectors, though you can use bluetooth audio, which means you can just set up a bluetooth speaker, or even ear buds. All that good technical stuff aside, even though the packing list said it came with a cleaning kit and an AV cable, my box didnt contain any of those. Oh, and hat tip to the reviewer who showed a picture of taking the lens cap off. My exhausted brain didnt even realize it was on. All in all, great projector that does exactly what you want it to do.

> 3 dayThe picture quality is fabulous! The sound quality is good but not loud enough on certain apps, I ended up getting a sound bar to supplement. Bluetooth makes it easy to connect to the sound bar. Super easy set up, my ten year old figured it out with no help from me. It’s been fun watching movies outdoors with the neighbor kids and watching UFC and football events! Such great picture quality. Highly recommend
