> 3 dayUpgraded my firewall appliance to an i7-4770K to make full use of the throughput provided by my new 500/500 Mbps internet connection. Running Prime95 or AIDA64s System Stability Test saw temps that were alarmingly high so I replaced the cooler I had on the outgoing CPU (an i5-4570T) with this and like every other system of mine that has been graced by a Noctua cooler the temps came right down to comfortable values.

> 3 dayHave it In a corsair crystal 460x case cooling a 3820 I7. Temps are 50c on load, they occasionally. go up to 52-53. Also have it on a i7 7700k in a Corsair 750d plenty of room. Keeps temps around 71 on max load. I dont have any other coolers to compare to as this is the only one I ever buy.

Greater than one weekI am giving the product 5 stars but not the customer experience. I received this, bought brand new, and gave as a gift. I was extremely embarrassed when the recipient opened the box and parts were free floating in the box. Two of the plastic bags parts were supposed to be in were ripped open. There was heat compound all over the metal plate. This was an obvious return no one bothered to check. While the part itself is great it took an additional 30 minutes to clean it and make sure all parts were in the box. Installation was fairly simple. I was impressed with that. My partial refund has yet to be credited to my account 24 hours later but that is an amazi problem, not a product problem.

> 3 dayEvery CPU cooler I have ever purchased came with a back-plate, even coolers much cheaper than this one. This expensive cooler does not! They expect you to use the old back-plate that comes with your motherboard. Thats all fine, but my previous cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO which is a great cooler, but I have my old back-plate in storage someplace and it would be a nightmare to locate. Why not just include a back-plate like everyone else? They include an Intel back-plate, but not an AMD. I had to go to the hardware store to jerry-rig it to work. Aside from that, this is a good cooler, although overpriced. The reason I wanted this cooler is so it will cool the VRMs and northbridge.

> 3 dayFirst Noctua cooler and very easy to install. One recommendation would be to verify if there are any compatibility with motherboard, case and ram. During the installation in Fractal Design Torrent Nano, needed to rotate the cooler 180 degrees BUT cannot install an exhaust fan in the case due to the size of the cooler.

> 3 dayAfter much research and vacillation between water vs air cooling, I went with the noctua. My Skylake 4ghz clocks to 4.7ghz with this--with water maybe I could get a little more but it doesnt matter to me; I mostly run it at under 4.5 anyway. The fan is dead silent and mounting the fan on top, as shown here, allows my low profile memory not only to fit under it but to be inserted or removed (ATX case). I also like the orientation of the radiator. Why? Physics--the farther out the mass from the point of attachment, the more leverage on the motherboard; this orientation with the radiator parallel to the motherboard keeps the mass close minimizing the leverage--the fan also blows right down onto the memory.
