> 3 dayI have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro. For several years, Ive been frustrated because it only had a 250GB hard drive and I was getting tired of running out of space. I was all set to purchase a new MacBook for $3,000, but decided to buy this hard drive upgrade instead. I watched the sellers video about installation and it was quite easy. Now, my MB Pro boots up faster and I dont worry so much about storage. CAUTION: make sure you put the screws on the back of the laptop into the same holes they were originally in; they are different lengths.

06-04-2025I installed this in a 2012 27” iMac. Once you gain access to the drive it pops right in. Of course you need an adapter to use with it, but that is a function of Apple design. It’s been in place for a few months now and I am very pleased with it so far. I went from 256Gb to 1Tb and won’t look back.

Greater than one weekThe instructions are minimal and I didnt see anything more on the companys website but if you are knowledgeable enough then this is a slick upgrade. Essentially you remove your old SSD from your MacBook using the provided screwdrivers and install it in the provided external case. Install the new SSD into your MacBook and close it back up. Plug the external drive into the MacBook through a Thunderbolt to USB 3 adapter in my case. Run the MacBooks Internet recovery to install a new copy of OS onto the new drive and the pick migrate after install to transfer the old data and programs onto the new drive. It all worked perfectly for me with no problems. The new drive is maybe 20% faster than the old one. With USB 3 the migration was fast for my 400GB of data at around 200-400mb/s.
