Greater than one weekThis Mercury Pro 5.25 Optical Drive External enclosure has worked very nicely. My only concern is that you need to be sure your ODD is short enough to fit. The first ODD I grabbed from my supply was too long to fit. However, I had a slightly shorter ODD on hand that fit perfectly and works like a charm.

> 3 dayNice quality aluminum enclosure with rubber feet, screws , power supply , USB 3 cable included. If you need a Blu-Ray burner just buy the LG drive bundle! Its a very good drive with windows 11 and fast.

> 3 dayDid not fit my HP optical drive, my drive would hit pc board before screw holes lined up, I made unit work by hot glue front of drive to aluminum chassis, other then that unit is made good, my fault for not checking length of drive before ordering, I thought all drives are made to the same standard.M new Hp computer didn’t have any drive bays, enclosure is working and all is well.

> 3 dayThis enclosure is for a 6.7 inches depth drive, and my burner is a 7.1 inches depht (Pioneer DVR-216DBK), so it wont fit the side holes to secure the burner to the drive try of the enclosure. I didnt read about it (my bad), so I cant blame the seller. Ive contacted OWC and they offered me to change it, but Im outside the U.S. so, it isnt an option for me (way too expensive send it back). If you have this problem, you can fix it by drilling 4 holes at the bottom of the drive tray. Just measure the distance to the bottom screw holes at the bottom of the burner, and mark them at the bottom of the tray (insert the drive in the tray to do it). With these 4 marks Ill recommend to put a little piece of masking tape and remark it before drilling. The masking tape can help to prevent the drill to move away from the mark. Use a 5/32 drill for metal, and drill the 4 holes. The hole has to be bigger than the screw (use the screws provided with the enclosure). If a hole doesnt fit the holes at the bottom of the burner, just enlarge it by drilling again the hole on the desire direction. With the drilled holes matching the burner holes, plug the SATA and power connectors, screw the burner to the tray, and youre done! Place the aluminum cover and screw it to the tray, plug it to your PC and power up. The faceplate of the burner pops out of the enclosure, but I dont care! It works fine! Hopefully OWC could add the 4 bottom holes =P

> 3 dayokay, maybe that title sounds like a bit of hyperbole and I assure you that I have no connection to this company. But over the years I have done some electronics & programming design work myself and also quite a bit of troubleshooting and repair of computers. So I do know a good design when I see it and I appreciate it at a level of understanding that most people do not have. I also am eternally frustrated by the amount of bad design that I encounter in this world. And from that perspective I can say that this is gorgeous in every detail. If there were a Museum of Fine Design (I dont know of one) I would definitely put this there as an example of how to do things right. this is just my own opinion nobody paid me, I paid full price for the case, I have never talked to anyone involved in making or selling this case. I just know and love a quality product when I see it.

> 3 dayI bought this because I have an internal CD drive but my PC case has no slot, and it works great. The read/write speed is exactly what the CD drive says it supports, and it burns properly. My last CD drive was one of those ones that just plug into USB, and while it could rip CDs, it could not burn them right. The CD would come out as static. This enclosure combined with the ASUS internal CD drive actually works though.

> 3 dayWorks extremely well with Linux kernels 4x 5x, and probably others, as it has been around for a while. I didnt really need an external enclosure for my drives until the march of time removed the 5.25s out of my favorite case manufacturers.. No matter, thats what this thing was made for, and it will work well with the standing desk (with an extra long usb cable, which works great). The device enumerates perfectly, and has been in high rotation for months backing up media on the ol plex server. The aluminum case is awesome, and its high quality- The mount mechanism is solid, so you dont get any crazy vibration, even when some of your media is less than perfect. From a cost perspective, it was a bit more expensive than normal, but hey- it works, and it has a great company standing behind it. Completely recommended.

> 3 dayMy monster desktop was dying. My new replacement came diskless, mostly because there is not even a place for an optical drive in Phanteks P400a drbg case. So I came to Amazon looking for enclosures. After a big of search, and trusting in some of the reviews, I decided to try out OWC without any prior experience. Pros and Cons listed below Pros - quick, but not next day shipping - great, affordable price - build quality is beyond expectation, this thing is TUFF. Solidly build - hold my LG BD readwriter perfectly (see photos) - very easy install. Plug in the two internal cables. Secure with screw. Screw in rubber feet. Plug in USB an Power. Plug into PC USB port. Done Cons - no free, amazon prime shipping - weight. That solid build quality comes at a cost. Weight. With the LD drive inside, its about 4lbs 10oz. - size, its not small. So dont expect it to be. Its an external enclosure. On a windows 10 PC, youll need some external software to play DVD/BD. Once you install that, bing, bang, boom. Done! Enjoy your movies This is build so well, I may never need to another. But if anyone asks me, I will surely refer them to OWC. 100% satisfied. Its the real deal.

> 3 dayThe Enclosure is well made and works well No specification on what drive sizes work -mine didnt fit, had to drill new holes in DVD player in order to line up with mounting holes (only did this I couldnt find an other enclosure) No Instuctions Includer.
