> 3 dayNeeded a reliable housing for a LG Blu Ray Reader to go with my new computer build. Since most cases today dont have bays for Blu Ray/DVD-Roms, the only way to go is external. I needed an enclosure that would work with USB 3.0 and decided to give this OWC a try. I have tried two other brands in the past, but they would not work with a Blu Ray drive. This one Im happy to report works well. My standard length LG or Lite-On Blu Ray would fit with no issue. The USB 3.0 interface works fast and can play a Blu Ray movie with no issue. The only complaint I have, and it is a small one, is that the case seems a little flimsy in the front. But the BluRay drive mounts in flush, and despite the silver case, it doesnt look bad, though it would be better if it was black.

Greater than one weekThis thing is TOUGH, I mean REALLY TOUGH. Made out of aluminum and holds my old BD-writer perfectly. I wanna say its nearly indestructable tough but then I be lying...its close tho. My only gripe I have is USB cable is short, I think its literally foot long. Thank u so much for making wonderful product!!

> 3 daySuper High Quality! My old Bluray, DVD+DL, CD Burner fit perfectly with only a half inch to spare. Looks like a factory install, no gaps anywhere. I was pleased to see it was USB 3.2 on the back, but it did come with a 3.0 cable. Dont think it will make much difference. Plenty of rubber washer with the mounting screws and clear rubber feet with screws. Almost no vibration or sound. Dont crank down the screws too hard to avoid splitting the rubbing washers and stripping the aluminum thread on the machined aluminum enclosure. I had to wiggle the plastic bezel on my drive to get it inside the enclosure to get the mounting screws to line up. Everything looks works great. Connected to my new Precision 3660 Tower, Windows 11 Pro. Great for us old timers that still want to burn any type discs or watch Blurays. A Quality buy.

> 3 dayIve had more than a few external 5.25 enclosures over the years in all sorts of goofy interfaces. This one has the right feel to evoke that sense of quality. Its not the best one Ive ever had by far, but its certainly the best one out there right now as this is a slowly dying breed. I slid a

> 3 dayI bought this external drive to copy my CD collection into iTunes in AIFF lossless audio format. Although I have an internal DVD player, my computer sits inside a cabinet in my desk and the CD player/reader faces away from me, which makes it inconvenient. So I bought this external reader to place on top of my desk for the 900 or so disc task at hand. I measured the reading speed of the same disc at 2:57 on this unit, versus 5:17 on my internal reader. Great time saver! However, I had to download software to read Blue Ray discs because Windows 10 doesnt support them.

> 3 dayIve only had this for a few days, but I know what works and what doesnt so far. The Maxell DVD-R does not record. I got this message for three different discs: MEDIUM ERROR, 0x0C, and WRITE ERROR. No problems with the Verbatim DVD+R and DVD-R discs.

> 3 dayThis Mercury Pro 5.25 Optical Drive External enclosure has worked very nicely. My only concern is that you need to be sure your ODD is short enough to fit. The first ODD I grabbed from my supply was too long to fit. However, I had a slightly shorter ODD on hand that fit perfectly and works like a charm.

> 3 dayCase is good quality in aluminum, though the LG Blu-ray drive I put in it pressed onto the connection board at the back of case, causing the holes to secure the drive in the case to misalign on the left side. Could have added an extra mm to correct this. Grommets are a nice touch on the side screw holes. Seems to work fine.

> 3 dayNot a techie. Just needed an enclosure for a blu-ray drive in a gaming computer pc that hasnt an optical drive in sight. Dont review as often as I once did but I did want to give this product its kudos. It is solidly constructed & easily contains (with minimal installation) your drive. No vibration...no annoying sounds...easy open...easy close. It reminds me of products from years ago where they took the time to do it right. When they took a little pride in their workmanship. Cannot over state the fact that this is a product with which you will be very pleased. I consider it the best optical drive enclosure on the market period. She who must be obeyed just commented yesterday on its heft when she was dusting around my computer desk (which I have told her not to do because of static electricity - Some of those modern dust mops are static factories that Tesla could have used to light up Colorado Springs - but thats another story) The point is even she noticed its solid build enough to say something. Highly recommended!!
