> 3 dayIn the aftermath of X and Y, which were staggeringly wonderful, with a dynamic PokeDex, dynamic new animation, the gloriously empowered Exp. Share and dozens of other impressive features, AS and OR were somewhat of a letdown. The game itself is a little different than it was back in Generation III, but only in ways that were redundant with X and Y. The new Mega Evolutions were wonderful, but are not available until much later in the game than in X and Y. With the Exp. Share upgraded, a game where you previously had to struggle to get a full party above level 45 you can now end up with six Pokemon in their 80s. Unfortunately, the levels of the opponents Pokemon remained the same, turning a game that was an enjoyable challenge into an unfortunate breeze. With the Battle Maison returning from X and Y, we lose the one thing that made Third Gen (or Emerald Version, at least) so enjoyable, namely an immensely diverse and challenging Battle Frontier. There are some awesome new features like the ability to find rare Pokemon and keep track of what youve caught off of each route using the Trainers Eye, but more or less, this game was a disappointment. If given a choice between playing this again or playing Emerald, Id pick Emerald again in a heartbeat. And that says nothing in comparison to X and Y.

05-06-2025I havent played a Pokemon title since Pokemon Yellow so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but this game is AWESOME so far. Literally everything I wanted Pokemon to look like when I was a kid. I never played Sapphire, so the whole game is new to me. It has so many familiar kinks from generation 1, but has improved in so many ways. For people that played X and Y, you know what to expect. My only gripes with the series is that its hard to Catch Them All when your inventory is stuck at 6. I understand they only want you to have 6 available pokemon when out in battle, and once you can Fly it becomes much easier, but Id like to a see an on-the-fly inventory storing system thats NOT worse than Borderlands 2 so I can actually collect more at a time when Im out and about. Also, no difficulty settings. I like to slow-pace myself through games, and I have to keep myself from over-leveling too many of my pokemon. Overall, 9.5/10.

> 3 dayAs a long time Pokemon fan (since 96!) I just had to get Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. I had high expectations for this title after having watched the trailers a few dozen times. Let me say that this game far surpassed all of my expectations. Alpha Sapphire stays true to the nostalgia of the original title while also building upon and surpassing the experience. I enjoyed the graphics, the music, and the gameplay and highly recommend this game to both veterans and newbies alike.

> 3 dayPokemon Sapphire was my first Pokemon game all the way back in 2003. 11 years later in 2014, I bought a 3DS XL SPECIFICALLY to play this game. (And Pokemon Y) I was not disappointed. Despite having essentially played this story probably 100 times over the years, it was still an amazing experience thanks to new graphics and game play improvements. The post game was also amazing with the Delta Episode, and this was one of the longer Pokemon games for me, taking over 45 hours to beat the game, post game, and capture all the legendaries. A must buy for Pokemon fans old and new.

> 3 dayGreat game, but Im sort of bummed that they did away with a lot of the qualities that made X/Y such a strong and revolutionary generation for Pokemon. I havent found myself nearly as sucked into the story in this one as I expected that I would be, which is weird because Emerald was my favorite Pokemon game prior to this. Anyway. Still a good game. Kinda wish I wouldve gone with Omega Ruby now that Im sufficiently sick of Archies face, but thats not really a complaint.

> 3 dayA great remake of the famous third generation Pokemon games. While I have tried to keep spoilers to a minimum, there are a few mild, spoilers below. Nothing plot-ruining, but nonetheless spoilers. Pros ~New overworld graphics ~New moves and move graphics ~Can have both bikes ~New mega-evolutions ~Delta episode ~New and updated NPC text ~Tie-ins to XY and Mega-Evolutions ~Contests ~New Surfing abilities ~Soaring in the Sky Cons ~Double battles and horde battles not in 3D ~No character customization -The Delta Episode is a playable instance after you have beat the Elite Four, and is seemingly the spiritual successor to Pokemon Emerald. It has a never before seen story that helps fill in the background of Mega-Evolution. It allows you to catch Rayquaza and Deoxys. -Contests make a return in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. They are optional and have their own small story line. -Several old characters are fleshed out. May/Brendan become more like teenager girls/boys than a stiff uncaring NPC. Steven Stones history and personal life is told in greater detail, giving us a better look into the Hoenn Champions mind. The leaders and admins of Team Aqua/Magma have distinct personalities and stories that are both intriguing and appealing. We learn a little bit more about Wallace, the gym leader of Sootopolis City and his connection to the Cave of Origins and Rayquazas Tower. Wally becomes an interesting character instead of a tedious side note. -Once you meet Latios/Latias and recieve the Eon Flute you can call upon one of them to ride anywhere in Hoenn. We have all wished to have an actual flying mechanic in the Pokemon games and now we have it. -A lot of the legendary Pokemon can be unlocked and captured through mysterious portals. There is a lot more to say and not much time or space to say it. All in all Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, are in my opinion, one of the if not the best Pokemon games ever made. It is a beautiful remake, with both new and recurring mechanics that blend together into a game that entices both the old Pokemon players and the new. It is both fresh and nostalgic allowing for tons of hours of play-through even for those who played the originals (I put over 500 hours into Pokemon Emerald over the years, in the past few weeks I have already put over 50 hours into Alpha Sapphire and intend to put a lot more).

Greater than one weekI get to re-live my childhood once again! When I was little, Pokemon Sapphire was my first game (my little sister had Pokemon Ruby) and now I get to play the remake in a whole new way! I just like everything about this remake and I also like the feature that you can join with others online at anytime instead of being interrupted during your gameplay (that happens when you play Pokemon X & Y). The gameplay redesign is fantastic and I love that you can interact with your pocket monsters & I also like that the Exp. Share works with all the Pokemon in your party (makes training a whole lot easier). This game is definitely worth getting and I would also suggest getting the guide book too. Tons of fun! Way to go Nintendo! Now lets see a 3DS release of Pokemon Yellow.

> 3 dayI know this review is a few years late, however, as the saying goes better late than never eh? Pokemon Alpha Sapphire is a great game. I was amongst those who rushed through the game on his first playthrough so that I could get to the end game content and start breeding for competitive play. After all, I had played through the original Generation 3 games a myriad of times and there could only be so many things different with this remaster right? Well after rushing through the game, I started over and took my time and enjoyed the game. It was much better that way. Trying to catch all the Pokemon in any given area, raising up all the Pokemon I like etc. I really enjoy the DexNav and DexNav Shiny Chain hunting. Its not perfect though, and sometimes it will constantly tell you that the Pokemon you are searching for cannot be found and to search in another spot. Even if youve been chaining that Pokemon 50 times before this in succession. Its kinda annoying and even more so when you search the entire area and the DexNav doesnt find it. I really like O-Powers and the Battle Resort. It makes Masuda Method breeding really easy. And EV training in this game is great as well and its really cool how you can reset Pokemons EVs easily and Hyper Training is awesome. The GTS... overall is terrible. Most players are jack wagons who ask for legendary Pokemon like Celebi and Mew for their level 4 Hoppip and Sunkern so its not really of much use when trying to complete your Pokedex, however, this is of no fault of the developers. Overall I love this game. Even when Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon come out, I will still be playing it. I prefer EV training in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby versus Sun and Moon.

08-06-20253rd generation was a close second to GSC growing up and this remake was so worth it. Love the graphics and the gameplay. I didn’t receive a case which is why I took off one star but honestly it never leaves my DS anyways.
