As a person whos played since Gen 1 and has played every gen since then, I will right out say that I wasnt a fan of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald when it first came out. Whether its the regions Pokemon, the bombastic music that starts to grate on the nerves after a while, or the fact that each and every route between towns is ridiculously empty and kinda lacking in fun content, I dont know. I just know that I didnt like the original games and if you didnt like them either, then no. This is not the game for you. It will feel like a chore to complete and I will say this now as a person who has stalled on the seventh gym not because its difficult, but because the game stopped being fun. That said, its a very faithful remake and people who were fans of the original will be thrilled with it. Its got everything you loved about Hoenn with X and Ys updated graphics/mechanics, which can give those people a huge nostalgia trip while they get to see their favorite Pokemon and gyms in living color. HOWEVER, a lot of the gameplay issues from R/S/E are still there. You dont have a Berry Farm and have to go around collecting berries from routes every day. You still have to go to Mauville to switch between the Acro and Mach bikes. And theres still a lot of water and around 7 HMs to lug around, making the need for one to maybe TWO HM slaves a necessity. Fortunately, you CAN fly to different routes and locations that arent cities or towns now, which is something that hasnt been possible in any game prior to this. As for the Safari Zone, pickings are slim if youve already filled up your PokeBank with everything you could ever need or want. The selection of Pokemon in the wild is narrow in general compared to the selection in X and Y, but if newcomers and veterans find this tedious, then the WonderTrade feature is accessible as soon as you help Wally catch his Ralts. SuperTraining and Pokemon Amie are also back, which can only be advantageous, but nothing has changed there either. Those who were hoping for new Amie mini-games may find themselves disappointed. The breeding center is still there, so shiny hunters and competitive battlers, you can still import all your X and Y Pokemon over and get back to work, but Id suggest breeding in X and Y before transferring them over just because the breeding center route isnt very comfortable for riding back and forth on your bike. You also dont have the circle in Lumiose City to do half the work for you, so keep this in mind. Mega Stone enthusiasts however, REJOICE. While a lot of stones are (presumably) in the post-game, you can still acquire many of the news ones during the main story and all the old stones from X and Y are in the game for you to find. Trading between ORAS and X/Y is possible as well, so your main concern should be beating the game in a way thats comfortable for YOU. However, you may find yourself missing some of the liberties that have come along post-Generation 3.

I bought this for my now 8 year old cousin for his birthday, its the main thing he asked for. When he got it he was so happy, he played all the time. Now I dont see him playing much(after a month) I think its getting too hard perhaps, or maybe he just doesnt like reading the words on the game haha. If he was a little bit older I think he would appreciate it more.

As I stated for my Platinum review. This is not the U.S. version. I have inserted pics to prove the difference between the product shown, and the one received.Amazon needs to get on the ball and show accurate descriptions. I dont know what else to say... It works (starts up fine). If it has issues saving or anything else I will update this review. Im just unhappy cause I bought it NEW in hopes of collecting it. Whats the point of collecting a cheaper foreign variant? Thats just my gripe though and it may not matter to you. If you just want a game to play, I suggest you go to your local store, test and buy it there. If you order online, buy it used since your copy will likely not be the U.S. version anyway.

Everything you loved and cringed about from the original sapphire with some extra goodies and much better graphics! I mean - who couldnt wait to compete in contests again? (Maybe a good amount of us...) Or even have to choose whether you wanted to zoom around on the Mach bike or bounce around with the Acro. Ah, it was good to play the nostalgia game again, and how I had another hard time choosing my starter. The user interface is nearly identical to that of Pokemon X and Y, and has a very good feel, inside and out of battle for the newer generation of gamers. The story is a remake (obviously) but I believe it was much better the second time around. Overall, with the lovely addition of the EXP Share extremely early through the play-through, the game is made a great deal easier, for better or for worse. Personally I enjoyed being able to keep my party around the same level, but when your lowest leveled Pokemon out-levels a gym leaders highest without any extra grinding, the challenge is almost nonexistent until the Elite Four. Catching your legendary will be a pain (as it should!) without the use of the master ball. And getting there was a great experience. Loving the new forms. Bottom line: If you enjoy Pokemon, youll love this series. GameFreak did another wonderful job delivering another solid revamp of an older series for the new generations. Ill probably keep playing their games until they run out of ideas for new regions. [spoiler] For the old school players who spent hours and hours hunting down your Latios/Latias, never fear! For now through the gameplay youll receive Latias who willingly befriends your party! ... Still very mixed feelings still about this.

Usually I am not a huge fan of remakes, but I did not buy a 3DS for a very long time and I missed out on a lot of the new games. Long ago, I had a copy of ruby for my gameboy SP and I lost it somewhere when I was just 3 away from catching them all. I got this on a whim because I read online that between the new Ruby/Sapphire and X/Y you can catch everything with only one generations worth of games. That and the addition of the online trading made this the perfect game to finally fulfill my childhood fantasy of catching them all. It only took me 15 years to do it!

Its a great game! I especially love the Soaring ability and the updated graphics. I just wish some of the elements like the Battle Frontier had also been included in this version, or the ability to customize your trainer. I loved the new post-elite four episode!

I hadnt played Pokemon since 2000, and even then, it was the original Pokemon Red. I cant speak on how this compares to other editions, with the exception of Pokemon X, which I also have as of recently. Whereas Pokemon X feels sluggish, this edition feels and plays very smoothly. I notice a good bit more optimization in the engine. Because so, I find it very hard to go back and continue playing X. It feels like a first-generation 3D game did in the Playstation/N64 era. The controls, as well, are a major improvement over X. But specifically about Alpha Sapphire. I havent even scratched the surface on the games content, but I am glad. Even from the beginning, it feels like there is a lot of life left in the game. It is of course going to end up being more of the same, but that is sort of the charm with Pokemon, really. I ran back and forth in one area of a tunnel just so I could encounter an elusive Pokemon again... and Im in my thirties. This game makes me feel like that kid again, while I never want to relive being a kid, it is a nice escape to be back in that mindset if only for a little bit.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are enhanced remakes of the original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, which released on the Game Boy Advance 11 years ago. A few necessary changes have been made to the original versions to keep up with the newer generations, and some additional features have been added to give the games a fresh feeling to veteran players. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ALPHA SAPPHIRE AND OMEGA RUBY Like usual, two versions of the same game are available. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are nearly identical; however, there are a few differences between the two that are larger than most alternate versions. The biggest alteration between the two versions is the main antagonist team. In Pokemon Omega Ruby, Team Magma will be the primary team you encounter throughout Hoenn. In Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Team Aqua will be the primary team you encounter throughout Hoenn. VERSION EXCLUSIVE POKEMON In addition to slight story changes, select Pokemon will only be available in one of the versions. These version exclusive Pokemon are usually made to promote trading between players. All players can trade over wi-fi between X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire immediately after obtaining the Pokedex and installing the Player Search System app on the PokeNav Plus. Omega Ruby Exclusives--- Alpha Sapphire Exclusives Groudon ------------- Kyogre Latios ------------- Latias Mawile --------------- Sableye Seedot ---------------- Lotad Nuzleaf ---------------- Lombre Shiftry --------------- Ludicolo Solrock --------------- Lunatone Zangoose --------------Seviper Ho-Oh (Mirage Spots) --- Lugia (Mirage Spots) Palkia (Mirage Spots) --- Dialga (Mirage Spots) Reshiram (Mirage Spots)--- Zekrom (Mirage Spots) Tornadus (Mirage Spots)---- Thundurus (Mirage Spots) Kabuto (Fossils) --------- Omanyte (Fossils) Shieldon (Fossils) -------Cranidos (Fossils) Archen (Fossils) ------------ Tirtouga (Fossils) Skrelp (After Groudon)----------- Clauncher (After Kyogre) Throh (After Groudon) ------------ Sawk (After Kyogre) Mega Stones will not be version exclusive, but the locations of a handful of Mega Stones will change depending on the version. Also the looks of certian Mega-Evolved Pokemon will change depending on which version you have. Hope this helps anyone out!

I bought Pokemon Omega Ruby for myself, and Alpha Sapphire for my 7-year-old cousin who LOVES Pokemon. My only complaint is that it doesnt have voiceovers. He cant read very well, so he isnt able to follow the storyline, but he loves battling and catching Pokemon. The icons when looking through your inventory and shops helps him out a lot though for resupplying. I noticed several more multiplayer features than the original Pokemon Sapphire, as well as ridiculously enhanced graphics. Great game, and an amazing remake of my own favorite childhood Pokemon game.
