I purchased this game for my five year old, new to handheld gaming. A month later, its all he ever talks about. It is by far his favorite DS game. He has the New 3ds XL, and the graphics on the game are fantastic. I havent seen a Pokémon game in action since Gameboy Color days and, well, this is totally new-gen. The storyline is immersing and he is able to follow it mostly without help. The game play is fluid and easy to follow, and the graphics! Once he finishes this one Im going to buy him the Omega Ruby to play through, too.

A wonderful blast from the past. The music, the familiar pokemon, the gameplay is just amazing. A good gift for anyone wanting to play Hoenn but do not have RSE or a gameboy.

Got Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire for my hubby since he has been bugging out to play my copy of Pokemon: Omega Ruby and I dont want him accidentally saving progress when hes done something stupid. LOL! He loves it. Very fun games, all kind of similar with minor twists and turns to the stories, ive loved Pokemon ever since I was maybe 10? Im 26 now. Still playing the games. I remember when they were on the Nintendo Gameboy series. Graphics have evolved a lot since then. Now were on the 3ds and I can say the Pokemon series is still just as fun to play, with more internal light source than a Gameboy so you can actually play at night or in bed. I refuse to mess up the story line for you but this game is suitable for kids, adults, and anyone who likes collecting/fighting/breeding cute monsters. (If you dont know what Pokemon is to begin with...) Definitely excited for the new ones (Sun & Moon) coming out at the end of this year!!!

I love this remake of the epic game that was the highlight of my childhood. It has tons of extra content in it that changes it from the original. Unlike the Heartgold and Soulsilver remake, it wont give you a week of extra content, rather maybe 2 days worth. If you would want to kill some time, flip that 3ds and play this game. At best, I bet you could play this for 2-3 weeks if you are new to the Pokemon franchise, 1 week if you are familar with the franchise, and 21-3 days if you are hardcore and willing to speed run this. Just like every other Pokemon game, you may gret bored of this after completing the game.

Hoenn was never my favorite of the Pokemon regions. The remakes, while containing wonderful graphics, some really entertaining new mechanics, and an ever-present nostalgia factor, left me a little bored. I didnt have that urge that I just couldnt put the game down. Its been out for 3 months now, and Im just now getting around to finishing up the Elite Four and embarking on post-game. There are weeks that will go by without me even picking this game up. Its not something specific about the game that turns me off - there are just other things, other games, that Id just rather play more. That being said, technically, this game is the best one to date. Encountering Pokemon in the actual world, and being able to sneak up on them, is a real blast. I also like the addition of the DexNav, which for a completionist like me, allows me to keep track of what Pokemon Ive encountered on a route and how many of those Ive managed to catch. The addition of overworld flying on Latios/Latias is actually pretty cool, and bring the idea of flying from place to place to a whole new level. There were also more story line additions this game, with cut scenes that broke away from the character sprite to give the game a bit more world feel - not everything occurs right in front of you. I dont know how thrilled I am about being able to catch every legend - on the one hand, I think its a great idea to make everyone feel like there is plenty to keep them engrossed in the game. Legends arent just for hardcore Pokemon gamers (which I am not). But, they kind of feel like they lose their special qualities when I know everyone is going to have them. Overall, I give the game 4 stars, because I still want to finish it. I just dont enjoy it enough to sit there for 4-6 hours a day, grinding through the game as fast as I can to see what happens next. I do think, however, that they added enough to keep it interesting, and Im excited to see what is next for the franchise that I have (literally) grown up with.

My first experience with Pokèmon was sapphire (in 2010) and I loved it. I logged over 180 hours. Alpha Sapphire has a good blend of new elements (mega evolve/ super training/ new cut scenes) while still holding true to its original source. To be fair, Im only up to Mosseped, but Ill review it so-far. Pros: * Faithful to Sapphires characters/ story. * Mega evolution. * New story/ character dialogue. * Its Sapphire & Pokèmon. * Kyogre OP Cons: * Type changes (ralts is fair & psychic, ect) * Length, probably more of an issue for vets. But it feels fairly short maybe 40-50 hours if you complete pokèdex along the way. Or 20 if you just beat the main story. UPDATE As predicted, I beat the delta episode in 35 hours. Not really speeding through, but, not doing optional things (contest/ pokedex) The main segment of the game is very familiar. I love sapphire, and it stayed true. The real selling point for me, was the Delta Episode (post game) which was a true conclusion to the Hoenn experience. id say this surpassed the original Sapphire & took over as my favorite game since Red. Any late comers or revisters to the wonderful world of Hoenn are in for a treat. Just bring a swimsuit. 10/10.

Pros: - Great nostalgia that takes players new and old through one of the best region in the series. - Brings back the beautiful 3D graphics from X/Y with visual upgrades to some old mechanics from R/S/E. - The new Eon Pokemon flying system is amazing although I fell they should have allowed all the appropriately sized Pokemon that knows Fly to also use the system. - You get access to a ton of Legendary Pokemon in-game so you dont have to do tons of trading or go to Gamestops for events. Cons: - Perhaps the greatest disappointment for me in AS/OR is the lack of character customization. How could you incorporate such a fun element into Pokemon X/Y and then take that feature out in the next released game? - The presentation of the Pokemon Contests and their animations is a little lackluster. It still uses the same boring presentation as R/S/E. - Where the hell is the Battle Frontier? This is AS/OR, not X/Y. The Battle Maison/Resort cant replace the Battle Frontier. They could have made an awesome Battle Frontier experience but instead made the Delta Episode with the stupid Rayquaza+Deoxys fight that had no save in between. - Cosplay Pikachu...No offense to Pikachu fans, but I wish Gamefreak would stop shoving it down our throats.

For those of you who have never played ruby and sapphire this game Is a must. They have stripped down the old hoenn and made it better than before. There Is a plethora of things to do and you may find ORAS taking up most of your free time. However, those familiar with the RSE games and didnt like them may find ORAS more of the same thing. Game freak really did good on this game and it is certainly a must for RSE fans. It would take forever too list all the good things about this game and I will strongly recommend you try it for yourself. (Beware, there is no battle frontier in this game And there is still tons of water, so if those are deal breakers for you dont buy it.)
