I am so disappointed in this game. This series started going down hill with X and Y, but at least those games were playable. This game doesnt let you actually play! Every few steps its a freaking cutscene. Its literally impossible to get lost, they hold your hand the entire time. The story is incredibly bland and you really get no chance to explore. It. was. boring. I almost didnt buy Sword because of this game, and my only regret is that it wasnt just that little bit worse so I would have given up with this generation. Two stars because at least its better than that dumpster fire Sword and Shield.

Compared to Sun/Moon, ULTRA Sun and Moon offers some differences. This can include new characters, more pokemon, a photo club (basically take pictures of your character and one pokemon, and you can do poses and add stickers, etc.), and more. There are also some differences in story, as well as added extras that can be unlocked after different points (story extras). Id have to give it a 10/10.

Way too many cutscenes and similar content to sun and moon. This is definitely for players that havent already gotten the new generation games. Does have a lot of added pokemon though in the later gameplay and is also slightly more difficult to beat.

Okay, so let me start by saying that if you own Pokemon Sun/Moon, then Ultra Sun/Moon doesnt have much more to offer. There are a few changes that does help a lot, and that includes seeing Pokemon out in the wild just living their peaceful lives while you go about your adventure. The changes in the story make things feel a bit fresher, and the post game story feels a bit simple, but its quite fun going through the Rainbow Rockets, whom are actually pretty tough, and quite funny to read their dialogues. Giovanni is a true badass though, but sadly that story is left inconclusive. There are other additions like buildings that were under construction in Sun/Moon, are now Picture Clubs or Surf Shacks in Ultra Sun.Moon. The Mantine surfing is also fun, to a certain degree, though it is hard to unlock new moves for higher scores. Overall, I do not like the game, but I do not dislike it either. I would, however, recommend it to someone that has not played the original Sun/Moon games, or to someone that really loves the franchise.

so, I love pokemon. No matter the game. This one was advertised as a alternate universe which I guess it is but I had to check the game cartridge and the title screen when I started this one since it was the same as Moon. Same intro, same house, same mom, same people. It seems incredibly lazy to me and made me really sad. If you are going to update a game - we have the nintendo Eshop now - you can do an update or an expansion there. Please dont make me get excited and pay $40 for a new game expecting it to be different. I was really excited for this one for a long time. I thought it would go more into depth with the end characters in moon. like an expansion or how Black 2 did it. But, now I am basically replaying moon. I will be skeptical for the next time the Pokemon Company does this. I will probably not preorder unless its obviously a new game... Come on guys, this was so lazy of you!

I want to say that Ive been a long time Pokemon fan. Ive played Pokemon Red and Blue during my childhood and played every gen except 4 and 6. Ive noticed a decline in the series after Gen 5. Cut scenes were long, lack of special events, super friendly rivals, easier games, etc. Despite this I still loved Sun and Moon and they are probably behind Pokemon Black and White 2 as my favorite games. Sun and Moon introduced Poke Ride killing HMs which is something weve wanted for years. Gyms were gone in favor of island trials and while the execution couldve been better it was very refreshing. Ultra Sun and Moon brought hardly anything new. You start in the same town and if fact the game feels nearly the same for 30%. There are small changes like the Gym leaders and the story and also the ultra recon squad but it all felt like DLC. The ultra recon squad didnt feel like they had significant part or influence on the story. Overall the game left a very bad taste in my mouth and I forced myself to finish game, afterwards never picking it up again. If you played sun and moon Id skip this one for sure.
