This product is extremely well made and sturdy, the magnets are super strong. It is heavy and stays in place while in use.

Perfect helping hands solution for DIY maker. The magnetic arms can be placed in any position to ensure the perfect solder joint every time.

I was initially going to buy a circuit board vise when I found this, and decided this would be more useful. I think im right, but it comes at a price. Im sure with a PCB vise, you can just open the jaws, insert the board, and youre ready to go. Here, you have to try and position the flexible gator clip arms where you think theyll be in a useful position without getting in the way, and then try and bend/flex the arms to get the clips in position to hold your board. The clip arms arent as flexible as I thought they would be, and the locking knurled nuts on the gator clips are fickle, sometimes tightening and causing binding as you try and twist-rotate the clips. And while those long flexible arms do grant tremendous flexibility to the variety of board sizes this fixture will hold, it can come at the price of stability. This in my experience is really only apparent in one situation though: Desoldering. Since the arms holding the board flex, too much pressure from a soldering iron and wicking braid can cause the arms to flex down, impeding the desoldering process. But, I digress. At this time, Im only using this to hold small pre-etched PCBs. I intend to eventually use proto board for various projects I have in mind, and some projects will require a uniquely shaped, rounded board. Once I tackle said projects, I expect Ill be appreciating this fixture A LOT more than I am, so I have no regrets buying it.
