I love it. I went with 36 tooth, but maybe should have gone 34 or 32 because I miss the easier gears on climbing from my 2x10 setup. A bit noisier than the 2x10, but no dropped chain in first two rides since I installed it. Noise isnt a distraction on the trail, btw.

I bought a 30, 32, and 34 teeth. When set up with one ups 40 or 42 tooth cassette cog, it will give you all the range you need for a 1x10 system. I use the 30 tooth in the beginning of the season and slowly work up as my fitness returns. No need to use a chain tensioner unless you are racing. You definitely need the shadow plus or type 2 derailleur in conjunction.

I installed one of these on my freeride bike, removing the chain retention system and bash ring. I probably saved 1/2 pound but more importantly theres much less drivetrain friction without the extra pulleys, etc. I rode it last weekend in the bike park, and happy to report I had no chain drops or issues despite jumps, drops and bottoming out the suspension a few times. Simple and effective, what could be better?. This is on a 10 speed setup with a X-9 rear derailleur with a clutch.

This is one of the best upgrades I have made in a long time. I thought I was going to miss having all of the extra gearing, but I really dont miss it at all. I went with a 30T and left the original 10-speed cassette intact. No need for a wolf-tooth and any rear cassette. After a few rides, my legs were plenty strong and all I notice is that I have one less thing to fumble around with on my left hand and that I still have 95% of my original gearing options. I have this paired with a clutched rear derailleur and have not dropped a chain once. No chain guide needed! Just beware - the 30T can only be installed with the race face graphics facing outward due to the spacing provided on that side so that the chain doesnt rub against your cranks. Larger tooth configs may be installed either side facing out.
