To start with I don’t know what your extra $$ buys relative to, say, the Fifty Fifty narrow/wide ring I put on my older bike, but I’m not going to ding this a point. It’s a quality part you’d pick for a newer, better quality bike. If anything it was just a smidge big in diameter compared to the mounting bosses on my crankset. (I had to slightly file out the cheaper ring to slip over on my older bike’s XT crank.) Well made, quiet, no drop ring.

I installed one of these on my freeride bike, removing the chain retention system and bash ring. I probably saved 1/2 pound but more importantly theres much less drivetrain friction without the extra pulleys, etc. I rode it last weekend in the bike park, and happy to report I had no chain drops or issues despite jumps, drops and bottoming out the suspension a few times. Simple and effective, what could be better?. This is on a 10 speed setup with a X-9 rear derailleur with a clutch.

Awesome for doing 1x conversions without spending a fortune! This ring just plain hangs onto a chain. I simply pulled my FSA Afterburner crank, removed all three chainrings, and bolted this on (youll need new chainring bolts for a single). No bash guard, no clutch-style derailleur, no chain guide. Rode the begeezus out of it, never dropped the chain. Boom.

30t ring eliminates need for front derailleur, running 1x10 with shadow plus, no chain drops

If youre looking at this chainring, you probably already know why youre looking for one. Buy it. I run this on both of my mountain bikes, 34t on a nukeproof mega 1x11 27.5 and 30t of my 1x10 sc highball 29. Throw on a bash/guide and youll have a bulletproof all-mountain drivetrain.

    Good value for the money

Burly enough for DH Racers and Dirt Jumpers, yet light enough for XC/single speed. Tested in some of the most punishing riding terrain are built to last.
