Greater than one weekAs part of my 1x10 conversion on my mountain bike, I needed to find a chainring with a low tooth count. The Race Face Narrow-Wide fit the bill perfectly - standard 104BCD, anodized red (my favorite color), and a reasonable price ($40 when I purchased it from Amazon). The Narrow-Wide part of the name refers to the tooth design; for each regular chain ring tooth, there is a flatter, wider tooth right next to it. When combined with my SRAM X0 Type-2 derailleur (clutch type) the wide teeth of the Race Face chainring holds onto my chain so well that there is no need for any extra chain guide or chain retaining device. Bonus: for the 30-tooth version, you do not need chain ring nuts and bolts, you just need the bolts because the 30T has threaded mounting holes that serve as the T-nut.

> 3 dayI used this to convert my 3x9 stock setup on my canondale SL3 trail 29er, to a 1x10. I am so pleased! Some tips... Make sure your rear deraliur has a clutch, or you have some sort of mechanism to keep the chain from dismounting the front when there are lots of bumps. When installing, pay attention to the chain line and mount on the inside or the outside of your existing crank accordingly in order to prevent too much sideways movement and stress on the chain. Do some research to see what size you need. I went with a 34t because I have a 29er and Im running an 11x42 in back. I love it!

03-04-2025Its green. But dont worry it doesnt glow in the dark like the image seems to indicate. But its a nice green colour. I really wanted the red to match my wheels, but it was on back order. So I went and got the green. I got the 32t to replace the 34t that i had with my 1x10 drive which has a 40t GC. It was either this or a 30t front ring. I think I would have gone for the 30t just for those crazy uphills, but it was so much more money. But for most things here in Ontario, the 30t seems fine. I did have to remove 1 link in my chain going down from the 34t. And if i did go down to the 30t youll need to remove yet another link. My old 34t race face NW was black, but my bike frame is white and my wheels are red. So the colours pop.

> 3 dayChains stay on without the need for a chain guide. I set this up into a 1x10 and a 1x11 setup. Works amazing for both setups. I highly recommend. The style looks awesome too.

> 3 dayI ordered this chain ring to replace an older and worn out ring. It bolted on easily with no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayOK -- so this is a stupid piece of aluminum that should cost $10. That said, there is nothing better on the market. I get about 2000 miles of riding on a 9 speed drivetrain used in all conditions before the wear results in dropped chains.

Greater than one weekRaceface obviously did their homework when designing this ring. Worked best for me with an 11spd chain.
