We have a very curious 19 month old, who has discovered the joy of rummaging through everything he can get his little hands on. The need arose to lock some of the kitchen cabinets and drawers, and after much time doing research, I purchased 2 4-packs of these based upon the reviews of others. The distinguishing features of these are: easy to disable auto locking feature, quality of construction, and strength of lock when locked (FYI: NONE of the adhesive mounted locks work well at all). Each set of 4 comes with 4 mounting templates, screws, and 1 unlocking magnet key. In addition to the 4 screws used to mount the lock to the drawer/cabinet and the 2 to mount the strikeplate to the frame, it is necessary to drill a 9/16 hole under the lock body to accept the unlock pin, which protrudes into the cabinet material and is activated with the key. This hole must be deep enough to have its floor about 1/8 from the outside face of the cabinet, in order for the magnet to successfully penetrate the depth of the material. I tell you this because if, at some point in the future you no longer need these and remove them, the locking pin hole will need to be backfilled with wood putty, as it is large and deep. That said, these do work very well. The first lock took about 45 minutes to install, and subsequent ones about 20 minutes. The included templates work quite well, although some manual adjustments will be necessary for drawers with false faceplates, etc.

The multiple engineers in my family all geeked out over the simple but very effective paper template that makes installation so simple. Once installed you cannot see them from the outside at all which was so nice after years of big bulky plastic things looking awful on our cabinets. Plus these are the first lock to totally keep my highly intelligent 3 year old out. The spring loaded ones similar to this she had figured out in under 10 minutes by just reaching her hand in through the little gap and pushing the lever down. These keep the cabinets shut much tighter so you cannot reach through at all. We just make sure to store the magnet key at the very top of our fridge. Also I appreciate that you can toggle a lever on the lock if you want them to stay unlocked. That way if you are going in and out of a cabinet over and over for a few minutes you dont have to use the key each time. Really nice lock overall and I have already bought more. Only thing I was slightly disappointed on (but really I should have asked about it first so its my fault) is that I had planned to put some of these on metal storage cabinet doors in our garage but the metal doors activated the magnetic lever and so they were stuck in the unlocked position. It didnt occur to me that the metal doors would do that as I thought it would have to be a magnet not just a piece of metal. Not a big deal I just had to get another solution for the metal doors but just something to be aware of if your cabinets have metal doors too. So long as they are wooden you should be good.

Best locks on the market... Magnetic key works through 1.5 of wood, has a bypass to disable if you will need constant access, and keeps the kids out. Please note the instructions work for a typical installation, but depending on your kitchen, such as drawers with a complete box and a seperate door face you may need to create your own mouting plan.

Tough installation but once their up, they work great. Kinda a pain to search for a magnetic key when we have them on so many doors but, baby proofing is always a pain.

Love these, although Ive had a few problems with some of them catching properly. They are installed perfectly, but if I pull at the cabinet door hard enough it will open without the key. Not sure why..but this has happened with 2-3 out of 16. Although my baby is only one, hes strong and determined enough to open the dud locks I received. Plan to contact merchant about this issue and hope for replacements.

Easy to install with a nice template sticker to use. They stay locked very well, sure if you pulled extremely hard they may break but to keep someone out it works great. One of the pieces was broken upon opening and could not figure out a way to fix it so I had to toss one away. If you lose the key by chance, just use a standard few dollar pack of magnets from the hardware store.

These locks are awesome when you want to baby proof your cabinets without looking like you baby proofd your cabinets. Theyre invisible and weve had many guests who couldnt figure out how to open our cabinets. Everyone was impressed with how these locks worked. We keep the magnetic key on a lanyard conveniently stuck to the fridge for easy access. The only comment I have is that the installation is obviously a little more complicated than other solutions. Take your time and do some visual checks / test fits. After you install a couple though you get the hang of it and you can install additional locks much quicker. One good trick I found is drilling small pilot holes with my cordless drill. I used tape on the small drill bit to mark the depth I wanted (aka, not drill THROUGH the cabinet door).

Two of my children have used these for their little ones and they are a great answer to keeping little hands out of places they dont belong. I especially like the fact that I can switch them off when the little ones arent visiting and not be locked out of my cabinets all of the time.

These work great and despite the 4-star rating, there is nothing else Id rather buy. Four stars because of their size/bulk, which impacts the ability to install on some drawers that have a face mounted to the drawer box. I had to route out a bit of the drawer box on some drawers to get them to fit properly. Once installed properly, they do a pretty decent job locking the drawer or cabinet. Ive accidentally yanked one open a couple times forgetting they were installed and feared I might have broken something, but was able to improve the hold by ensuring my cup-hinges on the cabinet were tight and didnt allow any downward rotation of the door. Also, my cabinets are mitered at 45 at their rail/stile joints and secured in the back with an invisible staple (or something else metallic). This causes the locking mechanism to unlock if placed near the joint, so I have to place it about 3 in from the edge, which reduces the strength of the lock (shorter lever).

Ive installed numerous drawer locking gadgets, none of them satisfactory until I acquired this product which is vastly superior to any others Ive tried. I was somewhat concerned that their installation would be difficult, but in fact they installed easily and provide a secure, easily unlocked solution. Highly recommended.
