24-11-2024Purchased for a home daycare. Boyfriend had to install, took a bit of time to do all kitchen drawers, but work perfectly. Magnet unlocks, kids can’t open the drawers.

Greater than one weekMagical locks. Keeps my toddler out of all the things without having ugly latches on all my cabinets- especially the ikea type cabinets that dont have a ridge for a latch to sit on. He cant figure these out either, because the latch isnt at all visible.

> 3 dayWe have both TotLoks and the Safety 1st child locks. The TotLoks look like a bit of a contraption and the magnets fall apart if dropped. The locks themselves though are very strong, and theyre much smaller than the Safety 1st locks. They will fit in more places. The Safety-1st locks have much nicer magnets and overall are easier to install/use and work better in normal operation--- but if an adult yanks on a locked door with any force without care, assuming it should open, the Safety 1st lock internally shatters and ceases to work. The TotLoks dont. Minus one star for breaking easily, minus one more for being bulky enough that we had to cut notches in some cabinets/drawers so they would fit. These could be the perfect child lock if both were fixed.

Greater than one weekThese work great and despite the 4-star rating, there is nothing else Id rather buy. Four stars because of their size/bulk, which impacts the ability to install on some drawers that have a face mounted to the drawer box. I had to route out a bit of the drawer box on some drawers to get them to fit properly. Once installed properly, they do a pretty decent job locking the drawer or cabinet. Ive accidentally yanked one open a couple times forgetting they were installed and feared I might have broken something, but was able to improve the hold by ensuring my cup-hinges on the cabinet were tight and didnt allow any downward rotation of the door. Also, my cabinets are mitered at 45 at their rail/stile joints and secured in the back with an invisible staple (or something else metallic). This causes the locking mechanism to unlock if placed near the joint, so I have to place it about 3 in from the edge, which reduces the strength of the lock (shorter lever).

> 3 dayA little awkward to install but not bad if you can make out the directions. I needed something to lock the liquor cabinet while we left the house in charge of a sitter. The lock functions perfectly and smoothly. Even with a glass front cabinet, it wasnt hard to conceal. The only thing I count off for is that it is not really that strong. Im certain a good hard tug by an adult would be sufficient to break it. But to keep the cat from getting into the bag of treats or the house sitter from helping themselves to a shot of the expensive scotch, its very adequate. What Id say is that it is moderately secure but not going to keep someone out who is in any way determined.

> 3 dayMy kids were able to open every other type of lock (including the ones for refrigerators and toilets). The magnet locks are the only type they couldn’t get past without a magnet. Only downside - no magnets can be on the fridge LOL as my kids figured out other magnets work when they can’t find the magnet “key”. They’re 5 and almost 10 now and the locks are still working for us. Highly recommend!! Fingers crossed the cable magnet lock for the refrigerator works just as well as we still find the need to keep the kids out of the food in the cabinets and freezer (ice cream thieves LOL)

> 3 dayInstructions were very helpful. Definitely don’t be in a rush when Installing them. Work very well. And we get to keep our kitchen looking not baby-proof, even while it is.

> 3 dayLoved how easy it was to install and that you can leave it in the unlocked position for when baby isnt quite crawling yet. These installed quickly and I like them a lot better than the other odd plastic catches of other baby proofing items.

> 3 dayThese locks are awesome when you want to baby proof your cabinets without looking like you baby proofd your cabinets. Theyre invisible and weve had many guests who couldnt figure out how to open our cabinets. Everyone was impressed with how these locks worked. We keep the magnetic key on a lanyard conveniently stuck to the fridge for easy access. The only comment I have is that the installation is obviously a little more complicated than other solutions. Take your time and do some visual checks / test fits. After you install a couple though you get the hang of it and you can install additional locks much quicker. One good trick I found is drilling small pilot holes with my cordless drill. I used tape on the small drill bit to mark the depth I wanted (aka, not drill THROUGH the cabinet door).
