These locks work well and theyre super secure. Unless your toddler can rig up a reasonably strong electromagnet. But then youve got bigger problems. The locks can be set to stay open if the kids arent around and you need easier access. The magnetic key works fairly well. Installation isnt the easiest, and the paper template could be better. I had some cabinets where I just couldnt mount these locks and had to find alternatives. Still, as long as you can keep the key out of reach, these are about secure as toddler locks get.

We first put the latch type safety locks on our drawers and cabinets. Our son was 15 mths at the time and figured those out. He could also squeeze his hand in and get anything within reach. These magnet locks are fantastic. Even when he somehow manages to get his hands on the key, he hasnt figured out how to use it. Make sure to keep the key nearby. We put a bright keychain on the key so it was easy to find on our cluttered fridge. My husband did throw the key in one of the locked drawers once. He had to break the lock to get it out - so the lock works well! Now we have two sets in case that happens again.

Who knew a child-proof latch could be so much fun? They were easy to install and a pleasure to use because theyre so clever. Note that its no longer necessary to blind drill a nearly 3/8 diameter hole; just two small screw holes need to be drilled into the cabinet face. The provided templates make installation much easier than it otherwise would be - very clever. I only wished that this product could be made to work on the drawers in my house.

These things are great. We have a 6 month old who is just starting to get around. We have done our in a different brand that did not have the ability to leave the drawers and cabinets unlocked.. These are even better. We use my parents as a babysitter. They dont need all of their cabanents locked all the time so it is nice to be able to turn them off when our daughter is not around. They install really fast. I found a great installation video on youtube. I also love how you can choose to turn the lock off without it my parents would not have let me cover their house with these things.

My son HATES these. He is currently on a mission to figure out how the keys work. I caught him with one the other day, rubbing it all over the door (on the wrong side, luckily). He gave up in a huff and dropped the key. I guess its just a matter of time, but so far he hasnt been able to pry the doors open or figure out the system, and that has made out live SO much easier...

Doing the first installation takes a little time as there are specific steps and orders, but once you do it once it is very easy to do on the second, third, etc. They include a little sticker/paper thing that is used to guide where to install and drill holes. It is very useful and makes it pretty fool proof. I have actually bought 16 of these locks!

We have a very clever feline companion that will open cupboard doors. One unfortunate habit he has is investigating the garbage under the sink. This is the first cabinet lock that he cant figure out while remaining convenient for the pet parents. Highly recommended.

The multiple engineers in my family all geeked out over the simple but very effective paper template that makes installation so simple. Once installed you cannot see them from the outside at all which was so nice after years of big bulky plastic things looking awful on our cabinets. Plus these are the first lock to totally keep my highly intelligent 3 year old out. The spring loaded ones similar to this she had figured out in under 10 minutes by just reaching her hand in through the little gap and pushing the lever down. These keep the cabinets shut much tighter so you cannot reach through at all. We just make sure to store the magnet key at the very top of our fridge. Also I appreciate that you can toggle a lever on the lock if you want them to stay unlocked. That way if you are going in and out of a cabinet over and over for a few minutes you dont have to use the key each time. Really nice lock overall and I have already bought more. Only thing I was slightly disappointed on (but really I should have asked about it first so its my fault) is that I had planned to put some of these on metal storage cabinet doors in our garage but the metal doors activated the magnetic lever and so they were stuck in the unlocked position. It didnt occur to me that the metal doors would do that as I thought it would have to be a magnet not just a piece of metal. Not a big deal I just had to get another solution for the metal doors but just something to be aware of if your cabinets have metal doors too. So long as they are wooden you should be good.

I got tired of coming home to a kitchen with trash scattered all over the floor so was looking for a way to make the cabinets below the sink secure without having to stick a chair in front of the sink to block my dogs access. The cabinets dont have doorknobs, so I couldnt use the cheap twist-tie versions. I like that my sink is metal because I can stick the key to it without worrying about losing it. I also like being able to disable it just by flicking the grey tab on the side. When I am home my dog will not go dumpster diving so on the weekends I keep it unlocked so I dont have to wrestle with the key to throw trash away. This makes it good for people having multiple children- keep it locked when there is a toddler, unlock it when toddler gets older without having to uninstall, then relock it when next toddler comes along. Fortunately my dad came up that weekend because if it was a pain in the *** for him to install them I bet I would have given up. He is very handy but it still took him over an hour to install. The directions were not clear enough, so I found a youtube video which demonstrated how to install them. My dad said it was very helpful.
