I got the 2TB version of the Samsung Evo 970 Plus and installed it in my iMac late 2015 27 i7. Both read and write speeds exceed 3,000MB/s with Mac OS Big Sur. Thats more than a doubling of my original speed and seems faster than even 2020 iMacs.

Had to use a pci express slot and adapter. But its faster now that its off the 2x pci m2 slot built into my old mobo z97 board. Used the rooftop adapter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07GFDVXVJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

This thing runs so hot that I use it to heat my room at night.-Not joking- If I leave my PC up overnight it will heat the whole room.

The Silicon Power A80 is FASTER in everthing but sequential!!! They have the same warranty and unlike Samsung Ive been able to RMA drives that have failed (2 earlier drives of over 100 Ive installed). Samsung will use any excuse not to warranty a drive I.E. my 1TB 960 Pro( Not even 3 years old, FAILED). I pulled a sticker off for direct contact with my motherboards heatsink. I will no longer suggest their products to any of my customers. Save your cash ( $100!!!) and get a faster drive with a company that cares about its customers. Bonus feature, an extra 22GB!

I made no compromises with this purchase. The 970 Pro was incredibly fast, but it was too expensive and I needed more space for my main drive, so I went with the second best option, the EVO. Ive heard a lot of good things about the EVO series M.2s, and they all meet expectations! Load times, download and transfer speeds are incredible, and I can put a couple of my favorite games on the drive for very fast loading speeds! I absolutely love M.2s, and have only ever owned Samsungs. I cant find myself switching any time soon as they are consistent and reliable!

This drive simply Delivers! Be aware of one important thing: Get the Best heatsink you can find to keep it cool if you plan on moving many GBs to and from it. It Will get HOT! The cooler you can keep it, the faster it will move data and the Longer it will last. It appears heat is the enemy of these drives. The documentation could be better with the drive. I had to research the hardware chats online to verify it would work with my HP 15CS laptop. The biggest weakness of the laptop is the 5400 rpm spindle drive. Wow did this wake it Up! Just dont look for any support from HP. There is none of any useful quantity.

I know they have new technology but if you have a PC that can use this M.2 buy it I have a 1 TB 2.5 SSD Hard Drive and it was faster than anything I have until I put this M.2 in my PC, I use my PC for Video Visual Effects in my videos, I just rendered a 5 min video to my 2.5 SSD it took like 30 min then I rendered a 8 min video to the M.2 with added effects it took 15 to 20 seconds my jaw dropped I had to check just to see if it was actually rendered and there it was sitting there waving at me.
