    I use this for light gaming while Im away from my main desktop pc and dont use the full storage capacity. I do agree with other reviews that it does run hot but I dont notice any speed issues. My laptop only has a SS USB 3.0 and the speed is still great.

    These drives are pre-formatted by Samsung (Fat). The drive is write protected and MUST use SamsungPortableSSD_1.0 that is pre-installed. I bought this nearly 1 month ago to replace my slow Ext. HDD. When I received the drive, I set it up and set the password. (I know the correct password.) I spent the last 3 weeks cleaning up my data and getting everything ready to migrate. Then I elected to move all my files instead of copying them. (BIG MISTAKE) Once the operation was complete, I tried to access the data on the T7, only to discover that Samsungs rotten application refuses to recognize my password. After hours of trouble shooting, I finally accepted that my data was lost and tried to run the setup program again. Initially everything seems good. But then SamsungPortableSSD_1.0 demands the password again. Now I am stuck with a $219 SSD that is worthless.

    great drive but is now only giving write speeds of 80MB/s after less than a year of use. Everything is backed up and drives sometimes fail but amazon and samsung do not provide support for a faulty product after 6 months.

    I shopped around before picking this one. While 2TB isnt ground breaking anymore, its STILL a ton of storage. I needed something to back up all my data but didnt want anything clunky and no mechanical parts but still be rugged. The case is finished nice aluminum and the color (I picked blue) was something different. Its just a wee bit bigger than a credit card but doesnt feel dainty. Read and write speeds are REALLY fast. I also love the security of this drive. If its ever misplaced or stolen, its almost impossible for the everyday user to crack the password. I tested a few apps to see how easy it would be and was not successful.

    Drive is ok as fast storage, but not usable as a media drive over USB-C. Read errors, disconnections, etc on several different machines even after reformatting drive. Good for file transfers though.

    It is a nice external SSD. It was easy to connect to my iMac and it is doing what I need.
