I have had my fair share of external HDs fail. So when I discovered Samsung, I was thrilled. I purchased several even though it was much more expensive than others. So when it completely failed and I lost ALL the data Id created (at just 4 months! just beyond what Amazon will back/refund) I was directed to talk to Samsung. Their solution was to completely wipe my drive (which would prevent me from at least trying to have the data salvaged), repair the drive (which would mean Id still be trusting a drive that failed) or send me another refurbished drive (again, requiring me to trust a drive thats already failed). Not acceptable to me. I asked for a refund (basically to cover the cost of recovery for my lost data) and they flat out refused. Samsung doesnt back their drives when they fail (and apparently they do!). So if you actually value the work you create, try another drive. :(

Great physical size, but actual storage size was supposed to be 1tb, ended up being 931gb.

I am blown away by the speed. I have been editing with Final Cut Pro on a 2017 MacBook AIR of all things and pulling my hair out, even using proxy files. Export times were in the 5 hour range. Thought Id give this a try. Switched all editing to this tiny Samsung SSD. Wow is all I can say. I didnt know Final Cut could even go this fast. No need to upgrade my computer, which I dont want to do because it is light, portable, still has an SD card slot, etc. My old Western Digital External HD from Target transferred 70mb/s and this thing is transferring 400mb/s on a USB 3.0, which is more than enough for my Final Cut Pro proxies. And its so small and portable I can bring it on vacation and edit on the fly. Highly recommend.

I didn’t know what to expect after reading reviews. Some good, some bad. I came across this by accident when I was looking for a new HDD. Had no idea such a thing existed. I started researching this and wondered if I could figure it out. I thought it might be difficult for whatever reason. I finally pulled the trigger and bought it and plugged it in. I was nervous. Turns out it was so easy! Sweating over nothing. Simple and straightforward! And fast. I can’t attest to the longevity but you bet I’ll be back here to update in time. I’m sold. No more spinning platters.

I have not been able to access since I purchased it. This is the 2nd one I bought. Both of them have locked me out after I have set my password. They are just useless junk sitting on my desk at this point. What a waste of money.

High quality construction, perfect size physically and in storage capacity. Works great with my Apple Mac 24 inch and my iPad Pro M1.
