Used this to connect to my iPad so I can have all my pictures on the fly, without having to use a computer! Only con would be that I need an external power source to power the SSD when connected to my iPad... But thats no fault to the drive! Well worth the money.

I wasnt sure about this after reading all the reviews about the temperature. But one review mentioned applying firmware updates and another recommended heat sinks. Im a former desktop tech turned software and reporting analyst, so Im comfortable working with tech. I decided I wanted the faster speed to avoid any game lag and bought this drive instead of the slower (read: cooler) one. I plugged it into my laptop and applied all of the updates (theres more than one, so make sure you get them all). Then plugged it into my PS5 and formatted it as storage, moved over my PS4 games and immediately cleared up well over half of my internal storage (I had like 15gb free prior to this :( and couldnt even finish downloading updates!). The drive never overheated. In fact, it barely reached room temperature; the metal felt cool to the touch. For several weeks, I played one PS4 game off internal storage and one off this drive. I didnt notice any lag, freezing, or any other difference while playing off the external drive. At this point, I was not using the heat sinks since the drive wasnt running hot. Now, unless Im charging my controller, I usually turn my PS5 off-off, but I started putting it into rest mode since I can pop right back into my game instead of reloading it. That changed things and the drive did start running hot. Not too-hot-to-touch hot, but hotter than I wanted from something sitting on top of my PS5 (I put it there since thats where the PS5s fans vent air). SO. I applied the heat sinks (I got 4 40mm heat sinks with thermal conductive taped backings) and they work! The drive will still get warm in rest mode, so I will turn the PS5 off-off if Im not charging or Im not in the middle of something, but it doesnt stop me from leaving it in rest mode either. Keeping all of this in mind, I definitely recommend this drive for PS5 external storage.
