> 3 dayThe Samsung T7 Portable SSD 500GB is perfect for backing up my iMac (Late 2013). My backup of a little over 99GB took about 95 minutes with ExFat format via a usb-A port but when I reformat to APFS format, the same backup took only 75 minutes. I am happy with that performance until I upgrade to an iMac with Thunderbolt 3 speed.

Greater than one weekVideographer/Photographer who bought this for use at home editing station transferring .jpg, RAW, and MP4 files for storage and retrieval. This SSD is ok. Its small, lightweight, has decent storage capability. I purchased one back in August and it worked fine for about a month to maybe six weeks. Not particularly fast, but fast enough for me. Randomly started having issues causing my laptop and home desktop to not operate properly. It disconnects and reconnects constantly. And it causes all my other plugged in devices to do the same. Got to a point where I couldnt even eject the thing the correct way without problems. Im seriously disappointed as I spent over $80 on something that has proven to be more of a hassle than a help to me. Recent reviews seem generally mixed. Dont be like me and get this just because its cheaper than the 2TB T5 which is widely reported to be way better. Buyer beware.

> 3 dayDont buy this thing if you plan to use it for gaming. It constantly crashes everytime you try to do anything and makes your pc do weird things. It might work for you but for me it didnt.

> 3 dayWorks fine, in my case MacBook Pro 16 2019 with USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 (Apple claims 3.1 is AKA 3.2), IRL speed for moving files from the MacBook Pro onto the drive is ~350 MB/s. I did erase the drive and converted the file system to APFS, so this might account for the discrepancy in the I/O metrics. I was moving a total transfer load of 350GB with a combination of small files (1k-4mb) and large files (5gb - 150gb). Overall way much faster than USB3, however not quite 1GB/s as advertised, still this was well within my expectations. Several buyers mentioned the unit runs hot, however from experience with other external drives over the years, I think it runs about as hot as any other device Ive previously owned, so not a big deal IMO.

Greater than one weekWorked great for 2 months. Now it wont stay connected on some machines, and on others doesnt show up at all. Was able to get to my data using a USB 2.0 C cable, so Ill consider myself lucky, no thanks to Samsung.

> 3 dayI was pleasantly surprised by the performance of those USB – C SSD by Samsung. This model supports USB 3.2 GEN 2. However my MacBook Stone Age model only supports USB 3.0. Despite that, performance is excellent. The drive is about 40% full and still performs the way it did when it was new. I did have to format it once when I first had it; I don’t remember if I installed a firmware update or not. But when I first got the drive, after using it for a short time, performance dropped significantly. A reformat, maybe a firmware update, and the drive has been flawless since. It is small, lightweight, and Portable. It does get a touch warm but I never had to worry about it overheating. Wakes from sleep quickly. I use it as an external drive to supplant my iTunes and movie library. In that regard, it works excellent.
