02-04-2025Videographer/Photographer who bought this for use at home editing station transferring .jpg, RAW, and MP4 files for storage and retrieval. This SSD is ok. Its small, lightweight, has decent storage capability. I purchased one back in August and it worked fine for about a month to maybe six weeks. Not particularly fast, but fast enough for me. Randomly started having issues causing my laptop and home desktop to not operate properly. It disconnects and reconnects constantly. And it causes all my other plugged in devices to do the same. Got to a point where I couldnt even eject the thing the correct way without problems. Im seriously disappointed as I spent over $80 on something that has proven to be more of a hassle than a help to me. Recent reviews seem generally mixed. Dont be like me and get this just because its cheaper than the 2TB T5 which is widely reported to be way better. Buyer beware.

> 3 dayDont buy this thing if you plan to use it for gaming. It constantly crashes everytime you try to do anything and makes your pc do weird things. It might work for you but for me it didnt.

> 3 dayWorked great for 2 months. Now it wont stay connected on some machines, and on others doesnt show up at all. Was able to get to my data using a USB 2.0 C cable, so Ill consider myself lucky, no thanks to Samsung.

> 3 dayThese are always a great item, and a great deal. I have several and use them prolifically

> 3 dayI wrote and erased a few hundred GB to the drive over three months, and after I started my laptop this morning, the entire drive was completely unusable. I cant write to or read it from Windows 1122H2, Ubuntu, or Android 12. Irreplaceable data is now lost forever due to Samsungs incompetence.

> 3 dayI have 3 of these. They are extremely high quality and fast. I bought the T7 because of the advertised speed of data transfer. This is true, but you must have the newest generation of USB 3 Generation 2 in order to get the transfer rate. Otherwise my transfer rate with traditional 3.0 usb was about 200, which is still extremely fast.

> 3 dayThe best. Somehow thinner than the T5 - and super fast. I edit 4k video directly off this drive using only USB 3 - and have had no hiccups. Also like that the cable is longer than what is usually included with these hard drives.

> 3 daySo far so good. The drive is really fast with the USB-C to USB-C connection and I havent had any problems with overheating. Im only using it as a Time Machine Back-Up so it doesnt get much use on a daily basis. Whether this helps or not I dont know. My complaint with the vendor is that the drive they sent me was used like new (see the attached photo) not a new drive (which is what I ordered). While the drive really does look like new to me this feels a little bit like a bait and switch and I suggested to the vendor they might want to give me a small rebate on the price because of this. I have gone back and forth with the vendor and they either dont see this as a problem, or dont care, or ... Im tempted to send it back and get another one (although its not clear if Ill then just get another used like new drive). Ive had good look with other Samsung solid state drives so Im hoping this one wont do something like crap out the day after the return window closes. Well see.
