> 3 dayFirst of all the drive works well. Entry level so dont expect super duper fast reads and writes. Two stars drop off because of the difficulty in transferring from the old hard drive from the laptop to the ssd drive. I know that cheap is the key word here and that no software utility or other means of cloning come with the drive. The drive that I was replacing had Windows 10 and on a fairly slow laptop which I was wanting to speed up. A free cloning utility is available, EaseUS and that part was painless except that once completed, the boot sector on the cloned drive needed repaired to be bootable. So, since I have no Windows 10 installation disk, Microsoft allows download of repair disk image which has to be installed onto a flash drive or DVD. An hour or two later after digging up the required programs, the drive was fully functional. Next since I wanted to test the drive, I downloaded the Sandisk SSD Dashboard program. What a joke that is! Never had a program refuse to run if the screen resolution didnt suit the program. Well, another visit to Sandisk site an.after several adjustments to the supported resolution, the program came alive. I went to the performance section clicked and up popped another program problem with my computer. Back to Sandisk support site, digging found there was two possible solutions, edit a registry key if it existed; it didnt. Then go to the command line and enter a string of characters and it didnt work either. So after fooling around with this dog and pony show I flat out quit wasting time and uninstalled SSD Dashboard and classified it as another piece of useless software.

> 3 daySanDisk SSD 480GB reviewed... I originally ordered a 240GB (intending to add it to my existing old HD system), but by the time I got it, I had buyers remorse and sent it back unopened, choosing instead the bigger 480GB version and replacing my old HD all-together making my system a pure SSD only system. No regrets here... the prices have come down considerably (only about $120 at time of review for a 480GB SSD). I will say, what you get is a very bare-bones drive... its literally the drive and nothing else... no software or mounting brackets. If youre choosing to install this in your Desktop, youll probably need a 2.5 to 3.5 bracket conversion kit (only a few bucks for one). Also, theres no cloning software included, but theres multiple cloning software out there you can download for free (I chose Macrium Reflect Free), so with just a few mouse clicks you can clone your old drive to the new one if you want (remember, youll have to get your own clone software). I was up and running in no time, and very happy with the speed boost. A very quick, snappy drive, for a very pocket-friendly price... would buy again!

> 3 dayI have a Dell Inspiron 1525, I bought it 7 years ago, 2009. I wanted a new laptop, but I really dont know what to do with my Dell, so I decided to do some research on speeding it up and I read about changing the hard drive to SSD. It worked like a charm! Ive been using this product for a year now and I didnt have any major problems, besides sometimes my laptop cant read the hard drive upon startup, but its an easy fix I just have to restart it. I highly recommend upgrading your old laptops hard drive with this one, its cheaper than the other SSDs which makes it a lot better! So I upgraded my laptop and its now running in Windows 10. Its like I bought a new laptop for just $50!! Hopefully this can last me for 7 more years.

Greater than one weekPros: system is faster when doing a virus scan, and boot time is shorter. Con: I had planned to use an image to load the drive. found out that if the drive where the image was taken is larger than the SSD (which was my case), the image will not install. I had to load from scratch. Not the end of the world, but if you are converting to solid state from a mechanical drive, chances are your mechanical drive will be larger, even if the image of C: is not, and you will not be able to load the image. I gave the product 5 stars because you cant blame the product for ignorance. SanDisk has always been a trusted name.

> 3 dayUpdate 2-2018 The SSD finally stopped working. Im surprised because the only other SSDs that failed on me were questionable used SSDs. I think there has been only 1 or 2 HDDs that failed on me in my lifetime so this is rare. Sad to see it go but thank god I had things backed up. Update 1 My review wasnt on just the fact it used plastic for the SSD case. Plastic are perfectly fine material. My issue was with how weak/brittle it felt in my hands, how it wasnt machined together tightly. Just wanted to note that if you thought I was taking stars just because the use of plastic. Ive had a little time with the SSD and honestly its been what you can expect from a SSD. Its much faster than a 5400RPM drive youll find in most laptops. Thats about it though. For general use I felt no speedups and felt no slow downs compared to the previous SSD used (Micron M500 120GB) which was a slower drive in general as far as specifications go. So for general use current SATA III SSDs speeds dont really matter unless were speaking of the 4K speeds. In this case what makes an SSD a good deal then? Price vs Capacity and then the durability/longevity. Price vs Capacity = Good since I bought it for $59.99. $59.99/240 = .25 Cents/Gigabyte. For $69.99 or more? No, at that price I think its price/capacity ratio is no longer good for the speed/quality of the SSD. I cant review what came with the SSD since I bought the bare bones drive which is another reason why the drive is cheap. That leaves longevity which is probably #1 for me and electronics. I cant say much. Time hasnt passed enough yet and we cant review that on any product until something happens, or doesnt happen for several years. Ill give it to Sandisk for providing the most spacious SSDs for the money recently with their Ultra II 480GB/960GB and the Plus 240GB. If it can last through out the warranty coverage without issues this deserves 4 stars, and past the warranty a bit maybe even 5 stars. But until then 3 stars is what I would give since its nothing special. CrystalDiskMark numbers and screens coming soon, and maybe a few comparisons to the SSDs I still have with me (850 Evo, Micron M500, Intel 530, Intel 520, Intel 525, ADATA SP920) though they are various sizes. Original Review I wasnt expecting much from a cheap 240gb SSD, but man the quality of the physical SSD casing is low. Ive tried various SSDs from Intel, Samsung, OCZ, Kingston, Micron, Crucial, A data, PNY, Corsair, Toshiba etc but this Sandisk here was the lightest, flex, cheap plastic casing Ive seen. I get cheaper SSDs and their lower speeds (especially write) but sacrificing physical quality too much. Ill update the review after testing the SSD for speed benchmarks, and then again after a few months/year if any problem occurs

> 3 dayIT REALLY WORKS WELL!!! I have replaced my old HDD from my ASUS K55VJ and the result is perfect. (Processor Intel® Core™ i7 3610QM, RAM 8GB DDR3) SDD works stable and great. (505MB Read and 213.8MB Write) The major opinion during the choosing this SSD was the READ SPEED and then WRITE SPEED. I have tested this SSD using the Crystal Disk Mark and the results are shown on picture. Fully acceptable for Notebook use. Recommended for all users who wantS to get the SSD with AFFORDABLE PRICE. Thanks SANDISK for this product for this price. (I have purchased this SSD for USD 55.00) ALL THE BEST, Vakhtang

> 3 dayThis drive had operated nearly flawlessly since 2015 when I originally purchased it. Today 5/8/20 this has changed. I was using my PC normally, browsing on chrome when Windows crashed with a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED bluescreen. Upon restart I was greeted with the dreaded NTLDR missing boot error. The next step was to throw a Windows 10 ISO in so I could try a repair. The repair utility saw the drive, and claimed it had a storage capacity of 0 bytes. Following this I attempted to read the drive using an external enclosure. The drive was not detected on multiple machines using this method. These series of events has lead me to the conclusion that the drive has died. No S.M.A.R.T. warnings provided. I checked the Sandisk SSD dashboard a week ago, and it claimed the drive was in good health. This failure has caused me to lose important data tied to my college classes, data which had not been around long enough for the backup window to kick in. This event has been a intense frustration all day, and now I am faced with trying to either find a way to restore the data, or start fresh without my files. For this reason, I cannot currently recommend this drive for long term usage. The only reason I am giving it two stars instead of one, is that while it was working, it was a well performing drive.

> 3 dayThis solid state hard drive may be an older model, but it works just fine in my older laptop computer. Indeed, this hard drive is bigger than the original drive that came with my laptop, so its an improvement in size and speed. Although this drive has been supplanted by newer models, at this price (around $110) its a bargain for older model computers, like older laptops and older desktops, because youll see greatly increased performance over traditional spinning hard drives and lower power consumption. My notebook computer is a good example of this--the old hard drive would take over a minute to boot into Windows and finish loading drivers; this hard drive does that in about 20 seconds. Indeed, if the interface were more modern, it probably would be even faster, because the limiting factor is not the hard drive but the hardware on the laptop. Installation was a snap; cloning was easy (I used a desktop cloning device); and it runs just fine. I can definitely recommend it as a way to get increased performance from older hardware, because the bottlenecks in performance these days are really in the area of hard drives and interfaces and not in RAM or processor speed. You can add new life to old computers simply by getting a fast but cheap solid state hard drive. This SanDisk is perfect for that.

Greater than one weekTook me several tries to get it to even take windows 7. I downloaded the dashboard from sandisk but was not compatable with my current computer? LOL running win7ultimate on 2 year old custom built. So had to get out an old computer to and finally got it to work. Put it in my wifes laptop with hopes of it being faster than the standard hard drive. Results: Not a noticeable increase in speed. Battery life dropped way off. Battery hog. She just runs the system with power cord attached now. Would probably not buy another till I was satisfied it will perform as promised. But for a cheap ssd, was ok I guess

03-06-2025SUPER FAST!!!! My laptop is like the Millennium Falcon jumping into hyperspace after smelling some cocaine, dropping a hit of LSD, popping some speed, drinking a 5 Hour Energy, smelling a little more cocaine and chasing it all with a Red Bull followed by a Monster and Mt. Dew.... Then it happens... Blue screen of death. I dont think its the hardware, I think its where the cloning software didnt do right & I had to make a fresh Win7x64Pro install. The code says conflicting drivers & fixing that is WAY beyond my abilities. When that gets repaired, this SSD will be doing the job PERFECTLY. I am running it at 75-85% capacity and theres no issues with speed or temperature. Battery life extended by about 30% longer due to the SSDs lower consumption. Performance index is now based on my lowest score which is the laptop graphics. No biggie, its a laptop that I use for home recording. Once it stops crashing, Ill see how all of that runs.
