Bought this on sale for $65 to speed up my sluggish Toshiba L15W-B1302 laptop. Was going to do a straight clone of the 500gig 5400 rpm HDD, but opted to do a clean install of Windows 10 via the Microsoft Media Creation tool and an 8 gig thumb drive instead. Which now I have a $10 SATA USB connection cable for no reason. (Changed my mind on the cloning mid-shipment). Everything went smooth w/ Installation of Windows 10. Most of the night spent downloading updates, Steam games, 18 gigs of pictures off the cloud, 10 gigs of music and misc from a memory card transfer. The SSD is a beast compared to the original HDD. Boot up went from around 90 seconds to up and ready to use in 20-25 seconds easy. Apps and Software load up in a snap and saving files feels like I have blazing speed internet. EXTREMELY happy with this purchase. Plan on getting an enclosure for the original HDD and using it for a portable backup/storage.

Using this on my computer right now. I cant encourage people enough; if your computer is running slow and you know its not the RAM or CPU getting over loaded, then its probably you HDD. While a new HDD would proabably solve the problem too, an SSD will make your computer better than it was before, not the same. Ive put this SSD in 3 computers so far, 2 macs and a PC. They were all running toward the end of their lives (about 6 years old) and now with an SSD they run like new. My only advice is read up on how to change your HDD and properly back up your computer when you either clone or migrate your old HDD onto your new one. With regards to how this SSD ranks against others, I havent had a lot of interaction with others but this one is getting the job done and some so I dont see the point of spending more money on a samsung or something like it. Sandisk is reputable and relatively inexpensive. Its a happy medium if you ask me.

I installed this SSD in my laptop for my operating system and I have a 1TB hard drive for my data storage. My system (Windows 7) boots up in 20 seconds! This is super fast. With Hibernate disabled and the page file moved to the HDD, the whole Windows 7 only takes up about 30 GB. This is more than enough room for my programs. The SSD was really easy to install and I installed it in my Acer Aspire E5-573G-52G3 laptop and now it is a beast. It doesnt make any noise and it uses little power. If your computer is slow booting up, buy this SSD and use it for your primary operating system drive and use a HDD for your secondary drive you use to store files on. If your computer has a free SATA port, this would make a huge difference. Even if you have to remove your DVD drive, that is fine, an SSD is better than a DVD drive. Plus, just buy an external DVD drive for about 20-30 dollars and you will have a nice computer. In all, this is a good price for an SSD that will make your computer and programs start much faster. Browsers now load instantly!

I purchased this to upgrade a circa 2011 Toshiba Satellite which was expensive at the time but had become uncomfortably slow with to the original HDD. The laptop would take a few minutes to boot and the drive was pegged during any application launch. Resource monitor showed disk latency hovering in the 1000s and queue lengths over 50. In short, after logon and you had to start up your apps and walk away until it calmed down. CPU and memory usage were fine so this was clearly an IOPS problem. For under $70 I used this 240 GB SSD to turn the laptop into what feels like a new device. I had a copy of Acronis on a desktop so I used that to clone the partitions from the laptop HDD to the new SSD. Everything worked as expected and its like a new laptop now.

(*Update* 9/11/2016 I was able to get the computer back up after all. The only way to get the system to load is by bypassing driver verification. I had someone suggest that the windows backup was corrupted by the first crash. No way to know but oh well. (*Update* 9/7/2016 Well, the darn thing worked for a couple of months and now the computer wont boot again. Just before the loading screen on Windows 7 it auto reboots. I have tried restoring the computer to a previous restore point, cant access safe mode, and am finding the problem may be related to the SSD itself. Im tempted to go buy a different brand of SSD and try a restore on it to make sure its the SanDisk. Ive never had issues like this on other computers using other brands of hard drives. Until I prove it isnt the SanDisk SSD it gets a star axing down to 1 star.) Original - This was installed as a fast-boot drive for my wifes school/gaming computer. After 6 months of normal use my wife got an error on her computer stating that the hard drive had corrupted sectors and errors on it along with an error that said the version of windows was no longer verifiable. Essentially, the C dirve (SanDisk) had died. We attempted to back it up but it wouldnt backup any of it. I cant get it to work even on a separate device. Im thoroughly surprised that this would stop working like it did, in such a short time. Especially after reading all of the positive reviews and knowing SanDisks reputation. I personally am using a much cheaper SSD as a boot drive and have experienced no problems (knock on wood.) So I dont think its a surge problem or anything like that. At this time I would no longer recommend this product. *Update* Shortly after writing this review I decided to check the negative reviews to see if anyone had experienced a similar problem to mine and had any solutions to it. Turns out, a manufacturer had responded to someone elses SSD that had died like mine and left a number to contact. SanDisk has told me that they will replace the SSD because it is under warranty. As of now, Im awaiting to receive the new SSD before changing this review. *Update* 7/29/2016 So we received the replacement for the SSD yesterday and installed it. It seems to be working well. Our experience with the company was actually fairly decent. They were polite, ensured us that we would receive a replacement once they determined that the SSD was faulty, and have come through on their word. For this particular part of our SanDisk experience: The Cons -Our restored Windows 7 now has a corrupt file and claims we are not running a genuine version of windows (which is an annoying issue in itself.) -My Wife has had no access to her school-notes during the wait time it took to receive the new SSD (roughly one week.) -No data recovery offered or seemingly avail. -Have to turn in the old SSD for a new one, losing any ability to one day recover the data on the SSD Pros -SanDisk stood by their warranty and sent a replacement SSD with a fairly simple process to claim a return. -The new SanDisk SSD is installed and working. Since SanDisk sent a replacement and stayed true to their warranty Ive bumped the rating to 3 stars. Thank you SanDisk customer service for standing by your policy.

Got this on sale a few months ago. Worked great for a while, really helped speed up one of my old desktops. It started acting up about a week ago with read/write errors causing me to have to restart multiple times to get the the OS to boot. Now its completely stopped working. Had to go back to my old HD after spending 2hrs trying to get this SSD to boot again this morning. Overall this has pretty decent reviews but next time Ill spend a little more on a higher quality drive. **Update - I wanted to revise my previous review as it turns out the problems I was having were from a failing power supply and not this HD. Installed a new power supply and is working fine again so Im happy with this purchase.

I bought it 1 year and 2 months ago to increment my old Thinkpad X201 notebook, which dates from late 2009/early 2010. I use Linux/GNU/Lubuntu with 8GB or RAM, and the machine just flies and performs better than many machines much younger than that. The SSD was the most beneficial update during all this time (yes, even counting the 4-8GB upgrade), as expected. I dont care about benchmarks, but you can find them, for this model, easily and anywhere. I always like to wait a reasonable time before reviewing fine electronics (or try to update the reviews as time goes by) in order to also evaluate its durability. Im glad to inform that it is still working just as well after more than a year. Therefore, Im satisfied.

For a quick replacement to upgrade my grandmothers laptop speeds, it was well worth the price. It is not the fastest on the market, but a reliable SSD nonetheless. I would go with the Extreme Pro models for my own devices, but to simply gain a boot and xfer speed increase over magnetic HDDs, it is a great investment. With todays options, the boot speeds on SSDs are pretty similar unless you get to the real high end ones.. and this does not give a massive benefit if xferring files to/from a magnetic drive (due to the magnetic drives bottleneck), so if you can pick one of these up cheap, it can be another storage drive to be able to take advantage of other SSDs xfer speeds, but I mainly purchase these type of models for simple HDD to SSD upgrade jobs. I would recommend to others as long as the price is right/reasonable.

My HP Dv7 series laptop needed a new drive at last, especially after upgrading to Win10, and I knew I was going to get a SSD style but was not certain of which brand. I have had very good luck with SanDisk products before so went with their 128 gb SSD drive. Since I only put the OS on the main drive and store everything on the secondary, I did not need more space. Basically, this is plug and play. I replaced the drive in very short order, inserted my OS disc and the speed at which everything loaded was impressive. I had no issues at all with either installation or performance and I am very pleased. As a bonus, my computer and the power adapter run much cooler as well. I would definitely recommend this brand for anyone needing a SSD.

So far the drive is working great. Fixed my problem perfectly. Easy swap as well. Bought a laptop from the pawnshop that was slow and lagging. Drive in it was jumping to 100% for 5-10min at a time and hanging on downloads. Put this puppy in there and problem gone. Bonus boot time as well. Boots into Windows 10 in under 10 seconds. File access is super fast once you log in and copying files is a breeze. If you dont have a cable to clone your old drive over to the new SSD all you need is a USB with at least 8GB of free space, a Windows ISO and the Windows USB tool to make a USB install disk. Make sure you have your Windows key handy, swap the drives, put in the USB stick you made, boot up the machine and the computer should boot to the Windows installer on the USB stick. Install Windows and youre good to go.

Step up to SSD speeds and inject new life into your laptop or desktop PC with a durable solid state drive from SanDisk. You"ll experience quicker boot up and shut down, quicker application response and data transfer speeds than with a typical hard disk drive1, at just a fraction of the cost of a new computer. You"ll boost your cool factor, too, with a solid state drive that doesn"t overheat, make noise or burn through battery. SanDisk SSDs are tested and proven to be resistant to shock, vibration and temperature extremes2, so your SSD keeps working, no matter where or how hard you use your computer.
