> 3 dayI rated this 5 stars because the item itself is as stated and is a good hard drive. Just beware, I didnt read when I bought it, it needs to be plugged in and stay plugged in. Meant for more desk top type setup.

Greater than one weekCapacity and tech support is excellent sleep mode for the purpose Im using it isnt very effective cuz its not connected to the computer its actually connected to a TV so I had to get a on/off switch for a USB hub so I can shut off the drive when its not connected to the TV which houses home movies

> 3 dayUsing a few of these daisey chained as a makeshift NAS. They work fine. Not fast nor pretending to be. Wake up is a bit slow as the disk spins up and then reads the very long list. I have them semi cooled with a fan which most will agree is important to there longevity.

> 3 dayThis hard drive was the perfect upgrade from my little 2TB Seagate GoFlex Drive. I moved over all of my files (over 1.5TB) from that one to this new one (which was a super fast process considering that Seagate equips these drives with USB 3.0 compatibility) and Ive been using this drive ever since. The two USB hubs on the front are super convenient for me considering I keep it right on my desk. I keep my phone plugged into it all the time, but it makes for easy file transferring to and from any flash drives that I have as well. I like the cloud feature that comes on the software included with the drive. It makes it to where I can backup my hard drive and all of my files with twice as much security and gives me a place to retrieve any files if I happen to lose them. Overall this is a really solid drive and the amount of storage that you get for the price really makes this thing a steal in my opinion.

> 3 dayGreat drive with good features and a good price. I use two of these as primary and redundant backup for my computer and thousands of digital photo files. Im a photographer and shoot countless photos and videos every year. When my old NAS backup started showing signs of dying, I picked up a couple of these to replace them. Initially, I was just going to use the drives out of them in my Buffalo TeraStations but figured Id just set one as my primary backup, and the second would act as a redundancy for the first, all using Acronis software. Much faster than a NAS using the direct USB 3 connection and a whole lot smaller. Ive used Seagate for decades and had very few issues. The two times I did, Seagate replaced the drives with larger capacity ones at no charge!

> 3 dayI have a Synology DS916+ NAS, which has been a very good and stable product. While I have it syncing to multiple OneDrive accounts for cloud backup/sync, I wanted a local copy of backups as well. Heaven help me if the cloud went down and I needed to restore something. Enter the Seagate 10TB USB3 External hard drive. It was very easy to set up with Synologys HyperBackup. The first backup took several hours, which was expected. After the initial backup was complete, considering my workload, backups run nightly and take about 15 minutes or less. The USB HDD is quiet, seems to run cool, and do exactly what it needs to do. My only wish is if the 12 & 14 TB models were cheaper. At the rate I back up, it looks like greater than 8 months of backups will be retained on my data set. While that reflects my usage, it could GREATLY differ based on how others use this USB drive, considering how others would accomplish the same goal.

> 3 dayI purchased this as a slightly more affordable alternative to a WD equivalent I purchased just before it. Needing another 6TB this was appealing. However, the Seagate has MUCH lower performance. The WD gets just over 90MB/s read and write. The Seagate, however, only gets about 50MB/s write and 60MB/s read. Same controller card, same system. Tested with both files and Blackmagic. The small file read/write is pretty abysmal. Further, its sleep is unpredictable. Start a large file restoration from the cloud and occasionally its gone to sleep, forcing the entire process to start over again once I wake it. Would not buy again, but itll do the job of serving as a backup to my backup.

> 3 dayGreat drive and enjoy the space as well as the built in usb hub for that one item that you ran out of space for. It is perfect for what Im using it for and the price is the reason I gave it 4 stars. I have used 2 4TB usb drives and my machine is in use 24 hours a day. But with such use I found that having such a setup I have overworked the power supply and the machine is in need of a new power supply. However I have 4 more and will put one of them into place and over the next few years I will see if the self powered drive fix the power supply problem. With a total of 13TB I maybe able to fit all my games on one Xbox and not two or more as in the past running 9TB per machine.

> 3 dayThe drive functions perfectly as a Time Machine backup drive for my MacBook Pro. It chugs along without problems. BUT it reminds me of a crabby old man because it grumbles! I dont know, maybe it is quieter than other external drives, but the fan whirs most of the time and it makes this sort of light mumble/grumble, like someone trying to clear their throat quietly during church. Took me a minute to figure out where the noise was coming from, now that I have identified it, I just need to get used to it. All that said, Im still very happy with the unit as it is working perfectly for my purposes.
