This cleans the floors better than my old vacuum. It has a roller brush that works great on the hard floors , but it also transitions to my rugs with ease. The canister can be removed from the base so you can easily get under couches and beds... also has a long wand that can reach high places. Longer power cord then my old one as well makes it super easy to get around the house better. It comes with only a few attachments, so do your homework and order the ones that you may need. Overall great buy and I am so happy we decided to buy this with all the options out there .

Several years ago, I bought a big, upright Kenmore vacuum because I have two cats and Consumer Reports rated it highly. Maybe it was great at first, but it was heavy and cumbersome and the expensive bags filled up quickly. I vacuumed a lot less than I should have because it was a hassle to use. On Black Friday, I decided to look for something lighter and easier to use. CR recommended the Shark Vertex, and at half price, I took it. The first time I used it, I unpacked as few parts as I could because I was sort of expecting it not to be as good as the big Kenmore and I wanted it to be easy to repackage and return. I turned it on and WOW! It was so light! It propelled itself across the carpet easily, requiring me to only pull it back towards me. It can be converted like a Transformer for every vacuuming need by pressing clearly labeled buttons. There are no bags to buy, and emptying it is quick and easy. It has three attachments that work beautifully, and a simple slider to move easily between thick carpet, low pile carpet, and bare floors. But the BEST PART is that I could *literally feel with my bare feet* that the carpet was MUCH cleaner than the old Kenmore ever accomplished, and that is golden. There is only one thing that could be improved: a more flexible hose or a hose extension when you detach the handle to use the add-on accessories. This is a minor flaw, but everything else about this vacuum is so good, this one little thing could be better. So now Im vacuuming more than ever because its not only easy--it is almost fun!

I have been on the hunt for the “perfect” (BUDGET) vacuum. I have tested sooo many of them, and have been let down nearly every time. We have 6 dogs and a cat, which include a GSD and rottie, who leave trails of hair wherever they lay. Theres just so. much. hair. All the time. No matter how often I vacuum. Ive been using a Bissell Cleanview, which I actually really like and it does a pretty decent job. BUT, for some reason, nearly every month, I have to replace the belt because it loosens to the point that the roller stops spinning mid-vacuum. I would suck it up and replace the belt monthly IF it didnt involve disassembling the whole underneath of the vacuum to do so. Its such an ordeal that Im just over it. My original vacuum cleaner when I moved out many years ago was a Shark. When it died, I replaced it with another newer model, and that seemed to die on me much quicker. Again, I replaced it with another Shark, and when that went on me too, I swore off Sharks. Most recently, I tried a Hoover, another Bissell, and even a Miele. I came across the Vertex, and was curious. It was much more expensive then I wanted to spend, but curiousity got the best of me. I was honestly hoping to hate it, so I wouldnt have to mull it over about returning it. Well.... it wont be going back. Shark has FINALLY redeemed themselves. Even with the cons, it does such an amazing job that it is totally worth it. The cord doesnt auto-rewind. The tank is ridiculously small. Its hard to manuveur. And despite these things, it picks up SO much that every other other vacuum left behind. I ran each of the Hoover Pet Max Complete, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Turbo Rewind, and the Miele Compact C1 Turbo Team Canister Vacuum in separate rooms. I then went over each room with the Vertex. Each room gave me nearly a full tank on the Vertex, except the Miele, which was about a quarter full. I then ran the rubber hair remover brush over the carpet in each room. The Vertex picked up SO much, that the floors were nearly completely hair free. Shark has finally redeemed themselves in the vacuum world, in my eyes. If you found this review at all helpful, please click the Helpful rating underneath :D I strive to be as thorough as possible, since I also rely heavily on Amazon reviews.

In 3 years, I have had 3 vacuums. Dyson pet, Kirby AVALIR 2, and now the best of the 3. The SHARK. I was not happy with the Kirbys performance. A friend recommended This Shark, Im very glad she did. It picked up all the dust and pet hair the Kirby left behind. I highly recommend this Vacuum.

I wasn’t planning to get a new vacuum cleaner, but I changed my mind after I noticed a significant defect in our old one. I do the overall floor vacuuming and mopping in our house each week. For the last 6 or 7 years I’ve been using my Bissell, “lift-off” vacuum. I’ve been pleased with it and would’ve given it a “4 Star” rating. My only complaint was that I had to secure my brush attachment with a bungy cord, otherwise—if I hit a bump—the brush would just fall off. I also had to hold the electric cord in place with a clothespin. But other than that, I was quite satisfied with the performance. I recently bought an Oreck, “Orbiter,” floor polisher from Amazon, so I could better clean our hardwood floors. However, I also learned the unit could be used on carpets as well. For that you spread a cleaning powder over the carpet surface and then work it into the material with the Orbiter. After that you vacuum up the powder—which captures the dirt—and the job is done. That’s how it’s supposed to work. However, once I started vacuuming with my Bissell, I noticed there was a fine mist of powder leaking from a variety of areas on my unit. I could see white powder going into my dust cup, but it was also circulating into the air around me. I had watched videos online showing the Orbiter being used like this and then being vacuumed up with no problem. What was wrong here? I won’t go into my struggles looking for an answer, but eventually I decided to try using another vacuum we have. A few years ago, my wife bought a Shark, “Navigator,” vacuum cleaner, because she thought the Bissell was too heavy and noisy. I do most of the vacuuming, but she likes to touch up areas when necessary. My wife bought this after getting rave reviews from her mom and sister. I actually never used it because I had my routine down with the Bissell. Anyway, I decided to get the Shark and try my luck. I was pleasantly surprised when the Shark sucked up the powder and kept all of it in the dust cup. Problem solved. I was very impressed with the Navigator and started using it to do the whole house. However, I made the mistake ($) of checking out the Shark website and saw what upgrades were available. I actually did a lot of research via YouTube on Shark Vacuums and decided I really wanted a Vertex. I monitored the Shark website for possible sales and finally saw a good value on the Vertex model. I checked Amazon and noted they had the same “limited time deal” on the Vertex, so I ordered one immediately. By the way—when I checked the next day—the sale was already over. I know this is a long story, but I wanted to emphasize the importance of getting a superior filtering system. One of the videos I saw on YouTube was titled, “Don’t Buy a Cheap Vacuum.” One of the major points made was that everybody should spend enough money to get a “sealed” filtration system. Now I realized my Bissell must’ve been releasing invisible dust all these years. Yuck. Now I didn’t like my old vacuum very much at all. Anyway, I received my Vertex and used it yesterday and today (5/7/21). You know…I’m embarrassed to admit how much I like this machine and how excited I was to be getting it. The first day I worked on three bedrooms with carpets, two bathrooms with tile, and a hard floor hallway. For the record, I vacuum at least once a week and I’ve been using the Navigator for the past two weeks. However, after a normal run-through with the Vertex, the dust cup was full of crud—most of which—must have come from the carpets. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve never seen that much dirt come out of one vacuuming session and I had only done about one half of the house. It must’ve been pulled out of the carpets, because I know the floors can’t get that dirty. I know this review is too long, so I’ll just say that I really appreciate everything about this vacuum. The suction power is great. It handles easily and although I always wear ear plugs—my wife says it’s not too loud. There are plenty of informative videos about Shark vacuums on YouTube. If you’re considering getting a Vertex, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Perhaps I’m desiring what no vacuum could truly offer- but I was hoping for better. I still think it is very good. But I can still sometimes see hair left after like covering an area. Perhaps this is hair from the depths of the carpet…it may have sucked it from the surface and with its power brought the remaining visible hair from the Jericho Valley of my carpet. Otherwise, it is heavy and powerful- so can be a bit unwieldy. Sometimes as you bring it back up from its vacuum position, there is this moment before the click that it tries to run away from you. It’s a bit of a task for the stairs, but otherwise I haven’t found that to be too much of an issue. For how spendy it was, I was hoping it would solve all my life’s cleaning problems…but it turned out to be just a pretty good vacuum.

This is the second Shark I have tried this week. I wish I could say I was impressed, but I really think Shark stopped making great vacuums. I had a Shark for five years and sadly they do not last; what does these days. I was looking for the exact same one and let me tell you, they sure have gone up in pricing. Since there $350 ones do not work for anything, I decided to try this because of the reviews. The vacuum its self is quite large and heavy. I am waiting for a doctor to see if I have MS and I can definitely tell you I felt that side of my body growing tired from using this. It has a larger container and a sleek design. I have four cats so I have to vacuum everyday or every other. I have regular carpet and two area rugs. I am not at all impressed with the vacuuming of the area rugs, you can still see fur on it and I went over it multiple times. Now, it did pick up fur and what ever that stuff is that comes out of carpets, but it doesn’t seem like it did the job thoroughly; or maybe it just didn’t seem like it because of the larger container. It is definitely a heavy machine when it comes to vacuums so if you have a difficult time pushing this, it isn’t for you. Yes, on some area rugs it zooms, but it doesn’t seem to work all that well on the carpet switch so I had to go to area rug in order for it do to it’s job on the regular carpet. If you have the right angle turning is easy, but if you don’t it sucks. The pet power brush sounds like you are driving a race car, very loud and vrooms, LOL. It does have good suction but if you have a cat tower that is hard to vacuum this does not work. It is not good with the fur that is in twined in the carpet. The cord is not much longer than the original one I had. I do have a smaller sized house and I still have to unplug it to move into another room. After vacuuming my floors for two days there is no hair in the brushless rollers. Another plus, is that if you are picking stuff up on hardwood floor, like cat food, it does not spit it out at you from behind like their other brands do. It is not good with picking up plastic juice straw casing either, it stays at the bottom of the rollers so make sure to check that if you have to vacuum up stuff. I am just not impressed with the pricing on this vacuum, but I am going to keep this one.

My old Shark APEX had a malfunctioning powerhead after two years of extremely heavy pet home use. I loved it and it would suck up small children if they got in the way! Couldnt get a new powerhead due to supply issues and really needed another vacuum in our three dog household. I decided on a new model, the Shark SRATOS, which was supposed to be as powerful and comparable to my old APEX. Pros: Its not quite as heavy as my old APEX. Hair doesnt get stuck in the brushroll, so the self cleaning brushroll description is accurate. It has a very long cord which makes it easier to vacuum large spaces without unplugging and replugging. It came with a separate pet hair head for the removable hose (which I never have used). The Odor Neutralizing feature was okay, though other reviewers reported they couldnt get replacement cartridges. (I havent tried to order a new one yet) Cons: Out of the box I could tell it was not as high quality, even though it was a bit pricier than my old one. Its lighter weight, feels plasticy, and more cheaply made (the removable suction wand is starting to not click back in to the vacuum after 3 months of use). It doesnt suck up small items like gravel, popcorn kernels, pet food, wood chips (or children) like the APEX does. And while, as advertised, the rubber brushroll doesnt collect pet hair, somehow it gets stuck between the front of the vacuum and the plush brushroll which never happened on my old APEX. All in all, I do like it and would recommend it but if I hadnt owned an older (by only two years) model Shark this one wouldve gotten 5 stars instead of 4.

Easy to use, comes apart easily for cleaning and using just hose. Incredible suction, cleans carpets better than all the expensive Vacuums we’ve tried (Dyson, etc). Great value, we’ll see how it lasts, but I highly recommend this vacuum after many pricey disappointments.

This vacuum is more powerful and doesn’t get tangled from dog hair like our Dyson did
