> 3 dayYears ago saw prices for vacuum cleaners that were rated high for suction strength and they were all quite pricey. Because I work in a theatre where every shop and each stage always has a wet-dry shopvac as standard equipment, I was well aware of the massive suction power of that type of vacuum. They had suction stronger by exponential factors to any household vacuums and I discovered, that they were MUCH cheaper than those household brands. So I thought I would just think outside the box and for under a hundred bucks, I would get a shopvac instead. Not only would I get spectacular suction with a shopvac, but they also suck up liquids as well, something household vacs dont do. The wet pickup function meant that when I wash the kitchen floor, sucking up the dirty water would be a breeze. So I went with the unconventional and replaced our standard Hoover vacuum with a wet-dry shopvac. Well, after about 5 years, we realize that the cumbersome shop-vac was just to big and difficult to maneuver and it was time to admit it wasnt the best outside the box idea and so I bought this Sharp. I am happy to report, it was a good decision -- biggest plus is that the suction is excellent. Second biggest plus after lugging around a big clunky shopvac that took up an inordinate amount of space in the closet, The Sharp maneuverability is so much better than the shopvac as is its much smaller footprint. All in all, I am happy with the unit. I do see some cons that should be noted: CON 1: This unit comes with a measly 2 attachments. Attachments are the cheapest items of anything related to a vacuum cleaner system. Why Sharp is so stingy about the attachments is incomprehensible. And one of the most common and most needed of all types of attachment is the brush attachment -- no vacuum we have ever owned didnt come with a simple brush attachment. This one did not. You get a crevice tool (a tool that in all the years I have used vacuums, is a tool that I hardly EVER used) and what they call an upholstery tool.. Give me a real BRUSH attachment with bristles (something I consider ESSENTIAL and should be standard with very vacuum package) and not make me have to BUY one as an after-purchase....ugh. 13 Sept 22 -- a bit more about these two attachments; they come with a holder that supposedly attaches to the unit. There is a place on the unit that says ACCESSORY HOLDER. It even has an arrow pointing to a plastic protrusion. Problem is, no way does that accessory holder attach to that little plastic thing. So not only are the two attachments not the ones I want, but now I have no where to put them except to carry them around separately along with the useless holder that they go into...and not very snugly either, btw; they are always falling out of it. CON 2: The capacity of the dirt container is laughably small. I have a two room apartment and I cant get thru vacuuming all the rooms without needing to empty the dirt bin at least once, maybe twice. Now I know I have been spoiled by the massive dirt storage capacity of a shopvac -- you could go a whole year and never have to empty it -- and while I dont expect that kind of capacity from a home vacuum cleaner, even our regular Hoover or our Electrolux bag vacuums didnt require emptying the dirt bags after EACH room; usually the dirt bag only needed changing after maybe a month or two of use. And adding to that, I am not at all a fan of bagless vacuum systems like this Sharp. There is a reason why vacuums used throat-away bags to collect the dirt were so popular and were used for decades. The bag filled up, you took it out of the vacuum and you threw it away. No fuss; no DUST! With the bagless Sharp, every time you empty the dirt bin, there is a plume of dust rises out of the garbage pail you are emptying it into. I guess not a horrendous problem if you do that outside the house, but if you are an apartment dweller as we are, it means you empty the dirt bin inside your apartment. And inevitably at least some of the dust you just vacuumed up is now rising back into your environment. So all the HEPA filters in the world that are in the vacuum cleaner are for naught if dust plumes rise back into the room with every empty...and this vacuum requires LOTS of empties. For me, that is a pretty hefty negative for this unit. Last Con: Bought this a month ago and the extension tube that is supposed to detach from the body of the unit so it becomes wand -- that no longer detaches from the body. There is a red button that you push and it is supposed to unlock the tube, but this piece will no longer remove from the body of the unit. So now it can only be used as a floor vacuum. Was going to give this 3 stars, but now it only gets a 2. Let me live with it a few more months and it may go down to 1 star. If I lived in a house that had stairs and couldnt detach the wand to do the stairs, I know i would send this thing back. ----------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: March 2023 In a few months it will be a year since we purchased this. Magically last month the wand now does detach from the body so it can be use as intended, so I am chalking that up to something that is a one-off problem with my unit and not universal to this product. However, in the other realm of cons I mentioned previously, things have gotten WORSE. The small dirt capacity and emptying the dirt canister are even more annoying than I thought they would be at first. The canister is not a simple open container like I first thought -- no, it is multiple construction with a center cylinder piece that constrains the space. As dust and debris pile up in the container, solid clumps of dirt and debris get wedged in between the two plastic parts. To empty his thing, you would think, just open it and turn it over and gravity would just let all the dirt fall out. Oh contraire mon frère -- the big clumps of dirt wont just fall out, you have to get some kind of long tool (I use a long handle of a wooden spoon) to work in the canister to dislodge the jammed lumps of debris, while with every movement of that canister, plumes of dust are rising in your face. I can assure you, this is no cleaning day picnic...more like cleaning day hell. I really dont know how long I am going to stick with this product before I get so frustrated that I just give it away and get a vacuum that has a traditional disposable bag to catch the dirt. If you live in a place where you can empty the dirt canister outside, then you can keep this at two stars as this product may work for you and since we all have a supply of face masks nowadays, be sure to wear one along with a hat to cover your hair and old work cloths because dirt clouds are going to get all over you each time you need to empty the dirt canister...which will be MANY times. If you live in an apartment, then I drop this rating to one star and a Not Recommended.

> 3 dayGreat vacuum! Love the suction-only feature (no brush rotation if so desired), as my new carpeting is loop-pile not cut-pile so I cant use a rotating brush on it. Great suction. Works great on my hardwood floors! Lightweight but powerful. Love the easy of the hose-only feature, and its easy to dump the canister. Love the articulating head to get around objects and under furniture. Ive never said I loved a vacuum before (and Ive had many in 50 years)--I love this vacuum! Would buy from this seller again--the vacuum was delivered in one day! Very reasonably priced too.

> 3 dayVacuum has great suction, no doubt. Im a 57 year old woman but in great shape and pretty strong. I have hardwood floors with low pile rugs that I cannot push or pull this vacuum over. This would not work for an older person, even on position one of the switch which I assume is for hard floors. I dont like the fact that you cannot change the position to different rug or carpet styles. I also dont like the cord coming off the back side of the machine and only six inches from the ground. I am constantly running it over, have to stop, pick up the machine to get the cord out from underneath. Frustrating. The onboard tools do not stay or snap into the handle and will fall out during use. The handle is also awkward when trying to clean things overhead with the 180° radius. In short, the canister clean out is nice and the suction is strong but not thrilled with the rest of it. The picture I attached with the rug is the type I can barely push or pull the vacuum no matter the setting. I ended up giving this vacuum to my boyfriend because he said he needed a new one and had a prior model. I stated earlier that I could not push or pull the vacuum on low-pile rugs, especially on humid days. He showed me there is a way to adjust the suction up near the handle. That made all the difference in the world.

> 3 dayI needed a good vacuum to pick up pet (cat) hair. I have been using a fairly expensive Simplicity vacuum cleaner but I didnt think it was picking up all the pet fur. After reading reviews, I chose this Shark, I am so surprised how great this works. It really does a great job collecting cat fur in my carpets. I highly recommend

> 3 dayI purchased this vacuum to replace an older, bulkier vacuum that had lost suction. So far this little vacuum has been amazing. When it arrived and I took it out of the box, I was a little apprehensive when I saw how narrow the vacuum was. My first thought was that I was going to have to do so much more work to get my floors clean. The vacuum arrived in several large pieces, so I used the manual to get it all put together. It only took a couple minutes, and was not difficult. After I got it all put together, I read through all the features and how to use them. You can detach the canister from the roller base, in order to clean stairs, or other awkward places. It is definitely helpful on stairs. The one thing I do want to note though, is that my stairs are carpeted, and the detached canister did not sit well on the carpeted stairs, and I had to use my knee to make sure it didnt tip over and tumble down the stairs. There is an upholstery attachment with a roller that spins when attached to wand and vacuum is on. This is good for the stairs as well. There is also a very long, extendible thin wand that is mean to help clean under couches and large furniture. There is also a crevice tool. This vacuum is significantly lighter than my previous vacuum, and pivots and turns incredibly easily. This vacuum also has very powerful suction, and almost makes it seem like it is self propelled. You can also adjust the suction if you are vacuuming a thick carpet, or an area rug, and are trying to keep the vacuum from grabbing onto your carpet. The first time I used this vacuum, it had only been a couple days since i had vacuumed with my old vacuum, but I filled an entire canister just vacuuming my living room and dining room area rugs, and my stairs. The canister is a little smaller than my old vacuum, but if it does a significantly better job, I can handle emptying it a little more frequently. I am very happy with my purchase so far. If you found my review helpful, I would love it if you would click yes.

> 3 daySo my previous vacuum was a tiny dirt devil cordless handheld vacuum. It was bad, very bad. It barely could suck things up that were big or small and it was horrible for spot carpet cleaning. I have seborrheic dermatitis - if you dont know what that is, think dandruff, but its on other parts of your face, and the dandruff thats on your head is 10000x worse. My computer chair is on top of a short pile carpet that is 10+ years old. Normally simple vacuums should be able to grab whatevers in the carpet and suck it up, but if youve ever dealt with flakes from seborrheic dermatitis, they look practically INVISIBLE on certain colored carpets, and even on short pile carpets they sink into the bottom layer of the carpet. This is bad because it makes it very difficult to vacuum it up, and over time those flakes disintergrate into tiny dust particles, and guess what that is food for? You betcha, DUST MITES. I would ritualistically vacuum the area around my computer table but I knew I wasnt quite getting to what was the actual problem. At first I was going to get a cheapo $60 Eureka one that I saw online, but then I thought about it - why not just get something thats a little bit more expensive but not Dyson levels of expensive and is just as powerful? Thats where this came in. Assembly was straightforward, instructions were clear. Plastic felt a bit on the brittle side for everything, but that seems to be the general case for most modern products. Hooked everything together, turned on the vacuum and DANG it was strong. I had a hard time pulling the vacuum off the carpet. Fortunately, unlike some of these other reviewers *I read the instructions*. This happens on short pile rugs and carpets - this can be easily remedied by reducing the suction through the suction ring thats near the handle. Counter clockwise for less suction, clockwise for more. You will hear an air leaking sound - THIS IS NORMAL. This is a pretty cheap and easy way for the vacuum to reduce suction - and you dont have to adjust it too far - I would say a 1/6th turn was enough to reduce the suction so I could move it around comfortably without feeling like Im fighting with the vacuum. After I cleaned the area in question - the dust cup was already HALF FULL with dust. And it wasnt the typical dust youd see from the top layer of the carpet - this thing picked up what looked like extremely fine powdered sandy/colored stuff. It was obvious that it was the flakes that have dropped from my head that got pulled into the bottom layer of the carpet. Now Im sure a standard old school canister vacuum could do the same thing and my lack of experience with vacuums is just overplaying my experience, but as you can see from the other reviews here, people who have used other vacuums before can attest to the fact that this thing is *REALLY STRONG*. Bang for buck high power for its price. Also Amazon has a payment plan thing you can use which makes the bite required to buy this hurt less as well. Another thing the manual will warn you about - the vacuum is not stable upright - lean it against the wall or around items that can support just in case it tips over or find some straps to keep it secured against.

suction is Amazing
> 3 dayThis is the best vacuum I have ever invested in. I have had it for a week now so far so good.
