> 3 dayCons: - I cannot turn off system sounds. I dont need a bell in my ears when blue tooth connects. - I ordered a used set off amazon warehouse, the case left indents on the ear muffs. However 5 minutes of use fixed that, and I fixed the case. I saved ~$150. - The case is huge. - It does not come with travel, air plane adaptors. - The phones are slow to connect fedora (linux) Pros: - Great sound. It is not hi res audiophile good, but it is not far off either. - Noise cancelling is great I have PTSD and random system sounds really hurt me. I tried the Sennheiser Momentum 4 and could not use them for this reason. The alerts really bothered me. I wish I could turn the system sounds off completely. The Sonys are less terrible in this regard.

Greater than one weekTruly the best headphones I ever had. Couldnt recommend these more! I had been debating between these and the new Apple AirPods Max and so elated I went with these for multiple reasons (battery life, price, NC, bass, and more).

> 3 dayGreat battery life. Controls via the app have added features that sometimes reduce quality of noise canceling features. Great build/ comfort and overall happy with purchase.

> 3 dayI bought these to use when we walk inside the local mall during the very hot days of summer. They have exceeded my expectations in every way. Many days the mall noise is uncomfortable without some ANC. These are the best I have ever used for ANC. The sound quality is outstanding to my ears and I listen to a lot of classical music where it is easy to notice any performance issues. All of the controls work just as they should. I sometimes wear them for several hours at a time and they are quite comfortable. Calls are easy and always clear. I also own the Sony WF1000XM4 set and when wearing headphones is appropriate I usually choose the headphones over the also excellent XM4 set. Bluetooth just works perfectly with my phone and windows computer. No hassles ever. Music is important to me and these make it more enjoyable.

> 3 dayIve really enjoyed these headphones and find it difficult to take them off. I was stuck on either getting the XM4s or these and ended up with these as they were basically the same price with the Prime Deal. The appearance of the XM5s ultimately made me decide to get these rather than the XM4s, but there is one important drawback I got from these: I cant wear these around my neck comfortably. They fold outward for no listed reason, so Id have the ear cups rest on my collarbone. The way around this in which I found it the most comfortable would be wearing them above my ear, which is kind of obnoxious in my eyes, but it was the most comfortable position if I didnt want them on my ears. They are super comfortable and I find myself about to fall asleep with them on. Doing activities such as school work with the active noise cancelling helped me get so much work done with little to no distractions. Using them at the gym hasnt really been a hassle, as Id wear a hoodie to protect them from sweat. The music quality is superb and I havent noticed any distortion from higher levels of music. The things that would really drift me away, especially at this hefty price point would be: The lack of any water resistance on the headphones The ear cups not being able to rotate inwards or fold into themselves Touch pad gestures should be able to be customized But other than the features listed above, they may cater towards you, but the XM4s are generally similar if not better than the XM5s.

> 3 dayIve previously owned all generations of Sonys flagship WH-1000 headphones and have always been impressed with the sound and the noise canceling feature which is primarily what they are renowned for. I was disappointed with the fit of the previous model as they did not fully cover my ears and became uncomfortable after an hour of wearing. The 5th Gen are lighter and seem to fit better. Ive worn them constantly since buying them and they feel good. To really get the full benefit of these headphones you need to be prepared to install Sonys Headphone app which opens up more settings. The noise cancelation is exceptional. I can barely hear anything around me when its turned on full. I also dont get any vacuum sensation or high pitched frequency noise when NC is on which is a huge plus. The audio quality is really well balanced for my ears and taste in music. The bass is there, but not too dominant, mids are clear and the highs are crisp without being tinny. I love that the sensors pause audio when I remove the headphones and resumes when I wear them again. They also effortlessly switch between my Samsung phone and Samsung tablet without any hassle. The only minor gripe I have is with the new design carrying case. Its not as small or robust as previous generations and feels quite flimsy. I guess Ill see how well it holds up over the coming weeks. As before a USB type C charging cable is included along with 3.5mm jack for wired audio. All in all delighted with my upgrade to 5 and will be using these as my daily headset going forward.

> 3 dayi loved the previous editions of these headphones, and would have kept using them but they were dropped on accident and were no longer functional. i then bought the newest version thinking they’d be even better. (was disappointed :( ) these headphones shut off randomly when using them, the app has been wildly problematic, settings are constantly reset, the battery doesn’t last as long. really disappointed as i would wear and use the others every single day and have no issues. would not recommend these headphones.

Greater than one weekNext gen headphones? More like gen1 headphones. Headphones are really uncomfortable if put on more than an hour. Not good if you are using it for laptop. Headphones app by sony is really poor and non user friendly. Noise cancellation is poor, doesnt work if you are moving. Not waterproof. Unfoldable. Sony has downgraded from xm4. The only 2 good things in this headphones are fast charging and sound quality. Dont buy if you are looking for noise cancellation, comfortablity or upgrade from xm4.
