Step2 540200 MailMaster Plus Mailbox, Spruce

The mail box had some missing hardware and was scuffed up on top. However, I made do....

It was easy to asemble. It was missing the screws but it said not to contact amazon. I said to instead contact the manufactorer. I only payed $36 for it so I didnt mind buying the screws at the hardware store instead of starting a claim or whatever l.

I had backed into my previous regular plastic mailbox several years ago & broke the door off & cracked the side closest to my driveway so it was jagged each time I reached in to retrieve my mail. Finally decided to replace it. My son-in-law was kind enough to do the job of removing the old one by cutting the old post down a bit & installing this one over the old post. He had no problem as some of the other reviews mentioned. I love my new mailbox...its so nice compared to my old broken one...its spruce green...my favorite color & Im sure the mailman is loving it. My mail is now secure...not falling out onto the ground (which happened periodically) & more importantly...its DRY! We get a lot of snow in up-state NY. The door is magnetic...it also has a pocket below for your newspaper which would make it handy for me except my guy drives up my driveway & places my paper right on my doorstep! You can also retrieve the contents from the back of the box as well. I made a great decision choosing to make this purchase!

This would have been a 5 star item if it came with a post made of the same material. To make it solid and durable I used 2 gilbralter anchor post bought through Amazon and concreted them. I also reversed the bottom portion then placed the mailbox on top. I did this because when I placed it as pictured it looked like it was pitching forward too much. The reversed position gives it a different look but one that is not odd but oddly enough an attractive one. Overall I am pleased with my purchase as the mailbox is large, well constructed and attractive.

By far the best quality plastic mailbox for the money I could find. Straight forward install on a 4x4 post. Id recommend that Step 2 make it single sided for most people. The double sided opening can result in mail being pushed out the back by the carrier and/or the newspaper getting wet through the back flap. We just screwed the back doors shut.

Great mail box. It was easy to install. The only negative would be that in 105° temperatures the numbers tend to curl and melt off the box. I may end up painting numbers onto the box.

Easy to install

Works really well with the exception of the rear door. Magnet not strong enough. It by chance you dont bring the mail in one day, the post delivery person will just shove the new mail in and force the previous mail out the back door. Am going to put a small screw in to keep the back door from opening.
