Stonemaier Games Viticulture Essential Edition Board Game, for 156 months to 9600 months

Simple mechanics are easily learned, but the nuances of when to take actions and in what order make the game turn out differently every time! My wife loves the chance of card games and I love a good strategy game, and this did a great job of striking a balance between the two.

It took a little bit for us to learn this game. While learning it our group was taking a more cooperative approach with helping each other try to strategize plays and moves. This continued through the majority of the game until the end when the victory points started to matter the most. Theres a lot that you need to do in order start making wine, from building structures, planting fields, and harvesting the fields. In the beginning of the game there wasnt much point movement because everyone is setting up their winery and preparing. The draw cards always have very helpful perks on them so we discovered it was a good option to draw the cards. Its a very laid back and casual game and a lot of fun. We plan to play it again soon!

This is the first worker placement game I played and I love it! It is great to learn with other people. Once you get the mechanics of the game it is very enjoyable. I fell in love with the game almost immediately. It has lots of replay value. I won the second time I played! Thank you for a wonderful game that I know I will enjoy for many, many years. Its a keeper!

Stonemaier games are great and unique! The directions are really helpful, and there are lots of youtube videos to watch that go through how to play. I gave the game 3 out of 5 starts for traveling since there are so many pieces. This is definitely an inside tabletop game that I would travel with if staying in a hotel or house but not if I were camping or expecting to play outside. The theme is wine making, so it might not be the best with small children too.

This has become a staple for my board gaming groups, and the more we play it, the more we love it. I wish they would release it with a bourbon re-skin. Oh well, I will still be purchasing the Tuscany Essential Edition expansion before the end of the year.
