Its very sturdy, installed quite easily and solved the problem of the too-narrow doorway (For a wheelchair/walker). It obviously hasnt withstood the time test, so maybe a year from now, I can up my rating to 5 stars.

We were on the verge of having a contractor widen our bathroom doorways to accommodate my husband’s wheelchair, when an internet search led me to offset hinges.

This product needs to be easier to find and more affordable for those who need to modify home doorways to wheelchair accessibility.

The hinges were a snap to install and now my motorized chair goes through without a problem! I keep going through just because I can! No bumps, no scrapes, no scratches!

These work great. I got a full 2-1/4” widening of the door opening for my wife’s bathroom. She is confined to a wheelchair with a custom armrest for her paralysed left arm. I was damaging both the armrest and the door getting her wheelchair through the door after a tight 90 degree turn out of the hall. I have been looking for ways to gain at least 3/4 inch without major remodeling. INSTALLATION NOTE: Put the new offset hinges on the door first; it is too tight to get a screwdriver to put the screws into the door with the hinge already mounted into the jamb (risk of stripping screws).

There were no instructions so you just have to figure it out. Hinge is very heavy and much more than needed for the average door. However, it does perform as indicated.

Having trouble navigating your own home?

Narrow doorways, especially in bedrooms and bathrooms, present a challenge for anyone using a walker or a wheelchair to navigate the home, and widening the opening is often expensive and time-consuming. Swing-clear hinges give you a cost-effective, alternative solution to widening doorways in any home.

Free up some space!

Swing-clear hinges are designed to move the door completely out of the opening, creating an unobstructed opening that makes it easier to maneuver walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches through the doorway. Updating a home’s doors with swing clear hinges allows many people to remain in their homes even after their mobility is limited, which can greatly improve their quality of life. In many applications, installing swing clear hinges in place of standard hinges can add almost 2” of usable space to the opening

Replaces your existing 3 1/2" hinges

Designed to easily fit doors that already feature 3-1/2” hinges, Stone Harbor Hardware’s swing clear hinges are available with either a ¼” or a 5/8” radius corner. You can choose from numerous finishes, making it easy to coordinate the new hinges with your existing hardware. Stone Harbor’s swing clear hinges are sold in a two-pack and include matching wood screws for easy installation.
