First time I put the new cards in the empty slots (as originally came with the imac) and when I turned on there were 3 loud beeps repeating and nothing happened on the screen. A quick google search suggested the cards needed to be installed next to each other as i was mixing 8gb with 4gb cards. Changed them round and this resolved the issue. iMac now running much faster - will keep my 2015 model going for another year or two hopefully!
