Bought this for my classroom set of string lights after reading a review by another teacher. The app used by the dimmer switch is compatible with Alexa, which is a cool feature. It was a bit tricky to set up as you must use a 3G network to connect to the app... and our school does not have that option. Took it home and was able to switch my phone to our 3G network, then find the dimmer switch through the app and connect it. Once that was done, the switch worked at school just fine wirelessly with my phone no matter which network I used. Initially had some trouble getting it connected to the app and contacted their support team, who was very responsive and helpful. All in all, the steps are fairly easy to follow but for anyone who is relatively unfamiliar with connecting wireless devices that are incompatible with 5G networks, it may end up feeling frustrating. I can just picture my parents losing their minds trying to figure out what in the world to do. The app coincidentally connected with my daughters LED lights so now she can use Alexa to turn them off and on...something Id not really thought to take time to do beforehand.

    Greater than one week

Dimming of outdoor string lights is essential to control the outdoor vibe, especially with multiple strings that can be bright and harsh. I was using a tabletop lamp dimmer duct-taped into a baggie and tucked under an eve. Definitely not optimal and potentially dangerous. It was time to find an outdoor-rated dimmer. I didnt think I needed any smart home functionality, I mean, its just a dimmer, right? But man is this thing fun! Alexa integration works great. Name the plug anything you want eg terrace, patio, pool, etc.) and say Alexa, turn on patio. Alexa, set patio to 55 percent. And the like. But really, the app is even better! After all, youll be outside with your phone while youre enjoying the lighting. The apps home page is simple, just an on/off button and a dim level slider that will dim in real time (lights dim as you move the slider, not after you stop moving it) in increments of 1%. Within the app you also have the option to set upper and lower dim range limits in case you have dimmable LEDs that tend to flicker when too dim. When you turn off the lights the dimmer does a soft off quick fade. Awesome addition to our outdoor hangout area. IMPORTANT TIP: When pairing and setting up the dimmer, follow the PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS that come in the box, NOT the steps in the app. The app is more generic to all of Treatlifes products and does not contain critical steps specific to this plug. Setup is very easy but you will not get it on the network without the printed steps.

This was very easy to connect and set up. I downloaded the app and connected it to Alexa with ease. I was able to schedule it in the app and love it!

This works great for only 1 family member and this is a big problem. More then one person lives here and more then one person enjoys sitting in the back yard at night. This can only be run with the app and the app only works on 1 phone making it useless for a family

Ok, lets start with the good. It definitely works with SmartThings It definitely works with Google Assistant Now that I have it installed and have my patio covered in string lights, I love it. Now the bad: Last night when I was trying to get it working with SmartThings, I was not loving it... at all. It you have SmartThings and want to use this Treatlife outdoor dimmer, read this first. Setup an account with Smart Life first, download the app. It looks like a little house with a blue background and two waves on the roof. This is the first hurdle, it is in the app store from Volcano Technology. I kept looking for it under Tuya, thats who used to make the app. Add the device as a dimmer switch wifi. The picture wont match the device, plug in the adapter to an a/c outlet, the light should blink. Now let the app search for it, now it will add a device that looks like what you are trying to use. Now go into SmartThings and add the device, search by brand for Smart Life (two words), then choose outlet. Youll see a message compatible but not certified in United States click on the Smart Life icon, select your location and room. It will all you for your account info, this is why you set up the account earlier, you cant do it here. If everything goes ok, it should say successfully connected to Smart Life. Now the device can be configured in SmartThings, and used like any other device. If you have SmartThings linked to Google, have Google update devices and it should show up in the Google home app. I hope this saves you the hours I spent putting these pieces together.

Works good overall, but I have had a few annoyances. Ive had the about three weeks now. 1) Setup wasnt a complete breeze. Not terrible but I did have to remove the devices from the app and add them back a couple of times to get it to go through. 2) Several times both plugs (I bought 2) have gone offline, not at the same time. At least thats what Alexa says. Unplugging them from power and plugging back in causes them to start working again. 3) Ive noticed a flickering in my LED light strings when set to a low setting like 10%. Its not awful, but enough to be annoying.

This is second one I bought. First is 3 or 4 years old and dimmable with incandescent lights and I think with some led, but not ones I bought. Works great with Alexa To turn on/off or if you set up a routine. . Makes Christmas decorating easy too.

I have two of these devices: one in a covered porch which is still working great and the other outside on a deck exposed to rain. The one outside didnt survive the first heavy rain storm. It shorted out and will not power on at all. Well past the 30 day return window with no warranty because we purchased early for use in a construction project that went long; however, the company was very responsive, troubleshot several possibilities and then replaced the out of warranty product! Extremely impressed at how they handled this and stood behind their product so Ive updated my review. Would highly recommend.
