> 3 dayI have bought this kit 3 times now, and I love it! Colors stay bright after multiple washes (in cold or eco-warm-just because thats what I usually run the washer on). I made burp/spit up rags and crib sheets with the first batch so they have spent quite a bit of time in the washer, not to mention that I have soaked them in Oxyclean and it doesnt ruin the colors. The first 2 pictures are all the items I did with one single kit this last time (dont mind the gag gift boxers LOL). The final picture is from when I first tried this kit 15 months ago and it has survived well through all the washings and the Oxyclean soaks. I do suggest cotton fabric but I noticed that some brands put a thin waxy coating on their fabrics to keep it clean for shipping, so I just wash them on warm with just a little detergent and dry them before binding them. I had no problems with the brands Haines or Fruit of the Loom and didnt prewash them, but had to massage it a bit as I dyed them for full saturation. Heres what I did: 1) I rubber band the fabrics I want to dye with the rubber bands included in the kit, but I also pick up an extra package or two of rubber bands just to make the designs more intricate. 2) I fill each bottle with half the needed amount of water, replace the caps and shake well to dissolve all powder because sometimes the powder can get stuck to the bottom of the bottle. Then I fill the bottles up the rest of the way and shake again. WEAR GLOVES even at this stage or you will have to scrub for days to get it off your skin- like I did, which made my job interview the next day a bit awkward. Hah. ALSO, leave the bottles standing or tilted upright once filled as they tend to leak laying down. 3) I lay out an old plastic shower curtain out in the yard in the shade, get comfortable with a drink and go to town- I use paper towels to wipe up spilled dye between switching colors so it doesnt transfer to other parts of my fabric. I work from lightest dye to darkest on each binded garmet. Also, if I noticed the dye was beading on the fabric and dripping off without absorbing, I just go slow and easy on the dye, and use a gloved finger to massage it in a bit so it will soak into the fabric then it would easily accept the dye when I add some more on. 4) I put all the projects in a tightly knotted plastic garbage bag and leave them in the shaded garage overnight. 5)The next day, I snip the rubber bands and use the garden hose to rinse out and wring out all of the garments. I suggest using running water from a hose or faucet instead of rinsing them in some sort of prefilled tub or basin to keep the white parts from soaking up leftover dye and being less vibrant. 6) I hang them out to dry fully for a few hours, then I machine wash them on delicate, cold water with an extra rinse and spin. After first initial washing, I just toss them in with the rest of the laundry (except whites of course) and I have had no issues yet. Hope this helps!

> 3 dayBought this to make shirts with my sister on my birthday. The bottles were a little smaller than expected, but still more than fair for the price. There are a few duplicates like two red, two turquoise and two yellows I believe.it says enough for 36 projects, but we used half the color bottles on about 13 shirts. So probably not enough for 36. Still have the rest of the dye bottles to use. Had a lot of fun, and the dye is quite vibrant. I will say that some have more dye powder than container can use, so use a little bit of the dye and then add a little more water. Otherwise the powder residue will come out and onto your tie dye project. All and all, its a great product, and less expensive than buying it from the store.

> 3 dayMy grandkids, 4-8 years old, loved this. Surprisingly, not that messy, because of the individual bottles. Be sure to wear gloves. I recommend using other gloves though. The ones included are too big and clumsy. My six kids made 3 T-shirts each. They loved the unveiling as we unrolled them to reveal the design. I highly recommend using within a day or two. Colors definitely lose potency. They do get lighter as they are worn and washed, but they still look nice. Is there a way to make them more colorfast? I thought of heat setting them in the dryer but didnt want to stain my drier.

Greater than one weekWe had a lot of fun! There was plenty of dye for 11 shirts with some left over. It was nice that the kit included gloves, rubber bands, and a big piece of plastic to protect your work area. Some of the dye bottles leaked but it wasnt that big of a deal.

> 3 dayI bought some soda ash to help fix this dye,and it worked beautifully. My daughter and I used not even half the kit and dyed 2 toddler shirts and 8 9mo. onesies. Maybe it was 10 onesies (some were long sleeved) anyhow..we still had some dye left over in the 7 bottles we used, could have probably done 2 more items... The thing with this kit is to know how many items you can possibly dye because once you add water to the dye bottles they are only usable for several hours. We had alot of fun with this and I think for as many colors as you get, its a pretty good deal...as we will get a couple other uses out of it still. Ive been trying to think what else we can dye with it. So far the items we dyed have held up bright and awesome even after laundering. We watched a bunch of you tube videos to learn how to tie and apply the dye. I did all the folding/banding and my 3 year old was able to apply the dyes. It was a fun afternoon project for us and the drop cloth is heavy enough that you can use it again.

> 3 dayThe good: there we re a lot of colors to choose from, my daughter and I ended up doing 6 shirts and we used half of the colors (saving the rest for another time). Some of the colors were pretty similar, but that made it easy to split the kit in half. The bad: I followed the directions exactly as given, but once I washed the shirts out, they looked very faded, like we made them years ago. The kit we got last summer produced much more vibrant colors that lasted after washing, and look more vibrant even now, a year later. Overall, it is a nice kit, especially in terms of color variety and amount of product you receive. It is easy to use and comes with design suggestions (which we used, and we made some pretty cool patterns).

Greater than one weekLove the variety of colors. Easy to mix colors and came with everything needed but the shirts. I would definitely buy it again. Bought them for my 8 year olds birthday party and had tons of dye left over. Goes a long way!

> 3 dayOrdered this kit to do a craft with my grandkids ages 6 & 7. It came quickly and looked like the photo. Lots of colors to choose from and I liked that the kit included accessories such as plastic gloves and rubber bands. You should definitely use the gloves even when preparing the colors as some of the powder is likely on the outside of the bottles and will definitely stain. We used the kit outside and the directions were easy to follow and included tips for different patterns. My grands loved their tie-dyed shirts.

> 3 dayI can’t even remember the last time I tie dyed, I think I was in summer camp or girls scouts—either way, it’s been a long time! This kit makes it so simple and easy that anyone can do it, especially since it comes with an instructions and design techniques booklet so no one has a hard time. I dyed one shirt to test it out, since I’m pretty rusty, and it came out beautiful and vibrant. My only cons are that it’s super messy, even before I started dying I had dye all over my hands because the caps weren’t screwed on very well, but it comes off pretty easily so I wasn’t too upset. The bottles are also small, I wish they were bigger, but other than that I have nothing but great things to say. I’ll definitely be purchasing another one so I can keep tie dying!
