My son says their is a glare when using it, it’s just the headset - everything else works good - what can I do

Could not order from steam so it was my only option. We already know about the steam price so I rate the product. I received a high quality brand new sealed product as expected. I would recomand to look at compatible game list as some of the game I own wont goes well without mapping controler. As an aditional info, it takes time, and you will have to pay large international custom fee

Ive always had a fascination with VR ever since I tried it out at a store as part of an htc tech demo. The visuals stunned me and I always wondered what it would be like to actually own a vr headset. I did my research and the Valve Index always came up as the most advanced out of all of them. For 1k, I bought the Valve Index expecting to be blown away. And I was! The visuals are amazing. Feeling immersed in virtual reality is the closest thing we have to emulating the matrix or what a dream is like. Games like Half Life 2 and software like Google Earth will definitely give you the sense that virtual reality is the way of the future. Unfortunately though, thats just what it is for now. Like the early days of cell phones, theyre expensive and niche. After the honeymoon phase wears off, you realize that as impressive as the tech is, theres still a LOT of labor involved in making it work and a lot of improvement is still needed in the space. • The headset is big. It definitely weighs on you after a while and will make you hesitant to want to put it back on in the future because of how bulky it is. • The remotes track your finger movements, but theyre not completely accurate. Its about 70% accurate to your finger movements and you have to have a firm grip at all times. Ive found that if you relax your fingers too much or stretch them too wide, it loses track of where your fingers are. The feature itself is also very niche since a lot of games/software dont really take advantage of this. • If you dont have a large living space, you wont really get to enjoy walking around in virtual spaces and since youre tethered to a large cable with the valve index, you wont be able to walk too far. Also the idea of walking around with a cable dragging behind can leave you always feeling cautious or worried about accidentally tripping over the cable so the true freedom of being able to walk around freely isnt there. And I happen to be lucky that I own a room dedicated to vr. A lot of people dont. If this is your living space or your room, you definitely have to be cautious of your surroundings because VR can and WILL make you forget at times where you really are. To be safe, a virtual grid does appear when you start to get close to the space you have mapped out, but accidents can still happen, especially if you turn the grid off and forget to turn it back on later. • To compensate for your lack of walking space, everything has a feature where you can use the joystick to teleport yourself to where you want to be in the space. At first I thought to myself Why dont they just let you walk with the joystick like any non vr game? And so I tried that. And the motion sickness was beyond belief. And I quickly discovered any motion besides your own WILL make you motion sick. It feels bizarre to see that youre moving but not have any real sense of movement. Definitely gets nauseating and quick. • The Valve Index requires base stations to be set up. If you dont have any tripods to set them up on or any other high surfaces, youll find setting them up problematic. Also they need to be plugged in using large plugs so again, these extra steps add up, especially if you need to tear them down which will require you to reset the space if you set them up again in the future. • Since the space is still so young, a lot of the games and software made for it currently are made predominantly by independent studios or developers so there arent a lot of killer apps out there right now that I would consider a must have. Some are really cool like Google Earth but again, these feel more like one off experiences rather than something I would keep coming back to. So to summarize, I think VR is stunning and definitely a space to keep an eye on in the future. The Valve index itself stands out and I would consider it one of the best in class except for the tethered cable. But as it stands, it simply doesnt compel me to keep coming back and so after just about a week or 2 of using my Valve Index, I havent really touched it since other than to show it off to friends when they visit. Im excited for all the potential advancements of where VR can take us but it still feels too early for me. Its clunky but cool and if you give it about 20 years, Im sure well all be blown away by it.

Great headset but do not buy it on Amazon. Buy it on steam because it is only 1000 on steam.

The Valve Index full VR kit is the best VR experience you can buy, as of this writing, even better than the $1400 HTC Vive Pro 2. The quality and specifications of this product make it worth buying. While you prefer a wireless solution (and I think you CAN buy add-on that can convert this to wireless, you cant beat this is if you want the best. The problem here is not the item itself, but the people selling it. The retail price for this item is $999, from Valve itself. If youre buying this new, and see prices higher than this, theyre scalping you. If youre buying this USED and paying this much or more, its not worth it. Dont get ripped off, save some money, get the free game Half Life: Alyx, and all the protections of buying from a reputable seller, buy buying this item directly from Steam. If youre not going to buy this item from the source, you are taking a large risk with your money, you can be getting it used, refurbished, broken, missing parts, and the BEST case you can hope for is to get a perfect unit thats WAY over-priced.
