I have been using this product for over 6 months now. It is functional in the sense that it does allow you to run Windows on a Mac but it sometimes takes several minutes for this program to load on a Nov 2011 MacBook Pro (with plenty of memory and plenty of hard drive space available). I need this program (or one of its competitors) to allow me to run a Windows only program (Minitab) on my Mac. I read good things about the newer version of this program being faster and I am more than willing to pay to upgrade to the newer version. My one and only reservation is I dont want to have to spend all the time and find all the activation codes to reinstall Windows, my anti-virus software, and Minitab on my Mac. I have repeatedly written to and called VMware trying to get one simple question answered - will upgrading to Fusion 5 require me to reinstall all my Windows based software or will it simply keep what is already installed on my Mac without me having to spend the time to reinstall everything?

I have been using VM Ware Fusion for several years now and like its smooth installation and performance. Operating systems such as Windows XP, Win 7, Linux, have each installed smoothly the first time. Would recommend.

Im a big Mac user, but my job uses PCs. Thats always been an issue for me working on programs that arent Mac. I wind up working twice as hard to make files compatible between both platforms, and half the time I lose formatting.

I used this with a 2011 iMac for years. It is a way to access Windows from a Mac without rebooting into the Windows Bootcamp partition. It allowed Windows to run side by side with OSX, so you could have the best of both systems without a reboot. The downside was that if you updated the Mac OS, you often got hit with an upgrade charge from the software to be able to use it on the new OS. My current M1 Mac doesnt support VM Ware Fusion, which is unfortunate.

For years I have had to work with folks who demanded that their employees use Windoz. Thanks to VMware, I was able to run Windows XP on my Mac, as well as Ubuntu. I successfully used security devices and my Mac to gain access to an all-Windoz network, including getting into storage servers as just another Microsoft-based employee. This is an excellent way to avoiding the purchase of specialized hardware when you need to run another operating system. I especially liked the ability to click and drag files from one desktop to another, such as from my Mac desktop to my Windows XP desktop, which allowed me to create documents in the Mac environment, using Mac tools, then save as a .doc file and drag it over to XP to share with other XP users. Great software.

Rather use Parelles which I feel works better for me.

This is a great product that does exactly what it says. However, I find myself needing it less and less. Every day less software is Windows only and in fact many products are Mac only these days. The reason I point this out is that I do not feel that I use this software enough to give it a full review that it deserves.

I had trouble transferring by system and had to purchase another copy of windows because my Dell did not give me a copy... the main reason I am moving on to Mac. Other than that, product is working well. No complaints except my clock is not updating; something that I think is my problem...not fusion 4.
