I bought this back in 2018 didnt even use but maybe a couple of times - it sat around for years and then thought yeah Im going to move all my vids and pics to it. Well it doesnt work. It will not initialize, computer doesnt recognize it. Do a search on the web for My Passport has fatal error - there is no help other then to say try a different computer of coarse by a new cable did that and some other check disk stuff, no way around it. There is no way out of this error. Wasted Money.

Got this as a gift for my husband because we kept running out of space on our Playstation and it works great! It was really easy to hook up and everything runs great off it. Im interested in taking over to a friends house and seeing if I can play my games that I have stored on it on their machine but have yet to try it. :)

At first I was very confused because I have a MacBook Air. If you are looking to just download music on the hard drive the process is a little bit different. You have to: - Insert the cord into you computer - Go to Disk Utility - Click My Passport - Go to Erase - Click ExFAT if you want it to be compatible with Mac & PC - Click Done It is literally that simple.

It was not easily compatible with my MacBook but I was able to finally back up all of my engagement pictures on it. I dont have much storage for my pictures on my computer but this is perfect for it.

Seems to work fine, but hard to tell because this product is not intuitive to install or use. The files you need to access online to install the software include a User Manual, which clicking on doesnt open, not even with the full version of Acrobat software that I have. There are absolutely no instructions, except from the community via the manufacturers website, and those are not for lay people, just techies. I even sent an email message through a Contact link to the WD people a few days ago but have heard nothing back. The reason I bought this device, although my old Passport seemed to be in good working order, though over five years old, was for better instructions and a more intuitive user experience. Apparently, none of that has improved with this new model. <sigh>

Arrived just in time since my nine year old Seagate Free Agent suddenly died. Definitely an improvement with usb 3.0. Made an image backup using AEMOI software of a Windows 10, 320gb hdd in less than 20 minutes with another 10 minutes to verify. Really great stuff to own. However, caution is advised not to misplace your usb power/data cord since the device end appears to be proprietary. My older Seagate usb 2 power/data cord would not fit. Otherwise, exceptional product and I will probably buy another within the next several months. You can never ever have enough backups. Western Digital is the best.

so far so good, the black and blue ones I bought fully passed all three western digital hard drive utility tests. The two white ones I had to return, since they failed the full drive test, they hung up at 90%. They are lightweight, small, and fast. Good harddrive magnetic backup in addition to flashdrive backups. Time will tell if they hold up reliably. they are inexpensive also.

I am not doing anything fancy here, just need an external drive to transfer and backup files to. My one requirement is that computers quickly recognize it and they did. Speeds seem solid but I will rely on the techie reviews which all seemed very good. We had about 20,000 photos to transfer and it took about 2 hours to upload via USB 2.0 and less than an hour to download via USB 3.0. It worked well on a new Windows 10 laptop as well as an old Windows 7? laptop. It is smaller and more lightweight than I expected, which is fine by me. It came with the USB cable.

Ive had this external hard drive for about 2 and half months now and everything is fine so far. Its size makes it easy to store and very portable. I use it to backup files for school and to free up memory on my laptop. The only con Ive experience is the software needed to use the hard drive. Unfortunately Im unable to use it at school because it needs a special program in order to function and downloading programs on campus computer isnt permitted. Therefore Im limited to using it on my personal devices.

Used this little guy to upgrade the storage on my ps4 slim. The days of juggling which games were downloaded are a thing of the past! It was really easy to set up, and after a couple weeks of heavy use, it’s shown no delays or any form of hiccup. I’ll update this if it fails randomly, but so far this has been one of my best purchases in a while. No regerts.

My Passport is the trusted, portable storage that perfectly complements your on-the-go lifestyle. Designed to fit in the palm of your hand, there’s plenty of space to store a massive amount of photos, videos, music and documents. Perfectly paired with WD Backup software and password protection, the My Passport drive helps keep your files safe.
