This cute little drive fired up and started working as soon as the USB3.0 cable was connected. It reports having done an initial Time Machine backup, but, of course, Ive had no time to see if its durable and reliable. Give it a year and Ill report back. The best news would be if there has been no change in that time.

I bought the 1 TB version. I bought it to transfer data from my 2010 13 macbook pro running OSX El Capitan to my brand new 2015 13 macbook pro. I plugged it into the old laptop and it automatically took me to time machine and all i had to do was select the drive and click okay to begin backing up my data. It took about 3 hours to get 290GB on to the drive via the usb 2.0 port on the old mac. Getting it from the drive to the new mac took about an hour as it is usb 3.0. Really pleased with the storage capacity and speed. I mean come on it was $60. At the apple store they dont go for less then $120 it seems like. Great value and so easy to use!

The WD My Passport worked perfect the moment I plugged it into my MacBook Pro. My Mac now backs up hourly long as the My Passport is installed. This is so much cheaper than using a cloud back-up system. Ive had an older My Passport for my PC for years and it still works perfect.

I bought this to store all of my...entertainment on. Im so excited to finally have room for the Butt Brothers collectons and the hole series of Backdoor Magic!! I have three other 1TB hard drives and they are jam packed with...ah hell I cant hide it, MAN ON MAN HOT SWEATY LOVE TIME!! This new hard drive should last me for at least another month of material. Ill probably go with the 10 TB size next time...oh well.

I purchased this because it was recommended by the person who sold me my MacBook. It is incredibly easy to use, has more storage space than I will ever need, backs up my data quickly, and is quite small and unobtrusive. I had been using this for awhile when my hard drive failed. I am a PhD student, so losing my data would have been a disaster. All of my work was saved, and it was easily transferred from My Passport to my new hard drive. I am so thankful I bought this. It was worth every penny!

These little drives are fast and seem to last as long as any backup hard drive. As a Macintosh Computer Consultant, I always keep several of these in my car to sell to clients who need a backup drive. These My Passport for Mac are already formatted for the Macintosh System. The regular My passport drives are formatted for Windows and must be reformatted to use properly with a Macintosh system.

I think a reviewer disliked the new square edges. Not an issue for me. I just want to say that these little beauties -- Ive had more than one -- have saved my bacon twice when I committed computer-cide. Where tech is concerned, Im virtually horse-and-buggy, but I find My Passport easy to set up, easy to unplug, easy to plug back in, and for me, a guarantee -- peace of mind. I lived in the Bay Area for ten years where tech is life, and once saw in the SF Chronicle my favorite computer slogan: Jesus saves and so should you. Buy one; even if youre less fumble-fingered than me, you wont regret it.

Just what I needed for storing files on my Macbook. Great deal on Amazon. It works specifically for Mac, so you dont need to reformat it. Be sure to get the one that is Mac compatible. It comes with the USB cable, and dont forget to register it to the WD website.

I love it, I think? I know not much about computer stuff, but it looks quite serious. It is suitably heavy and lights up and everything. I havent needed to retrieve anything from it yet, but I do believe in its excellence. Time will tell eventually...

I am not satisfied with this Product and will return it some time soon. This will be the second time Ive had to do this with this Drive - its a hassle when your Graphics dont read and get lost. I have a Seagate External thats only 500 Gigs, but has performed flawlessly for over 6 years compared to this WD Unit @ 1 Tb. Im a Senior Student and was a fan of Western Digital Products, in fact, my Daughter purchased the Seagate as a Christmas Gift to me. I bought the W.D. Unit just to mess with her and now shes kidding me about being Old School It seems Fragile and delicate and flakey + the only reason I havent thrown it in the Gulf of Mexico, is the fact that I purchased a warranty! When I can get it to show up on my Mac, Ill dump my Data on the Sea Gate External Drive - may need to inquire about another Sea Gate - THX Update I complained back in 2015, got a second unit and it crashed. Just remembered I was to wait on Amazon for a review, that was 2 years ago. I guess Im supposed to forget about it, but I didnt, still waiting for a resolution, so I just wrote this update because the unit is Crap - still!
