Due to the small size of space on the ps5 I’d recommend this to everyone it’s super easy to install and I’ve never noticed any difference between loading speeds between the internal hard drive and this one, maybe just bite the bullet and get the bigger one but other than that very happy with this

I do music making, software engineering (including using the occasional VM), gaming and game dev. Literally have done it all, and this drive is faster than it needs to be. Kind of overkill to be honest in many ways. But were enthusiasts, right? Thats what we like? Downloads wont be any faster, as a limitation of server delivery. No external drive will keep up when it comes to file transfer. Nothing I can think of will truly take advantage of how fast this thing is. However, its future-proof, will last long, and it happened to undercut the Samsung 980 Pro (alternative of similar spec) in price by a little when I bought it. If youre trying to save money, you seriously may consider going with something thats not this fast, as you will not in any way shape or form benefit from the speed difference. If you would benefit from it, you know who you are and good on you. Otherwise, get something slower, or go for a smaller size to run the OS and pair it with a slower drive for everything else.

Got this drive to use for my Steam library and it’s very fast compared to my previous gen 3 drive.

This is a rocket. Its super fast. upgraded my sons gaming system from an older WD 500GB nvme to this gaming drive and his system runs better than ever. Its faster, you can see it and you can experience it when games are running and loading. its a must have for your gaming system.

I bought the WD_BLACK 4TB SN850X SSD for use in a PS5 and added the MHQJRH M.2 2280 SSD heatsink. It took about 5 min to put the heatsink together and install. It fit perfectly in the PS5 with no issues at all.

The performance is up there, especially when paired together as a striped set in RAID 0. Ive had no issues and seems a reasonable mid step between the 980 Pro and 990 Pro. Given Samsungs recent missteps, I feel like Western Digital has really stepped up!
