> 3 dayIm not an IT tech, just an average joe that does video editing on the side. I bought the Western Digital Red SSD because I needed a fast, robust drive, and boy does this baby deliver! The bootup time on my old standard hard drive was just over 3 minutes. After installing and cloning the SSD, my computer booted up to the start screen in 20 seconds flat! 4K video used to lag painfully slow on my old hard drive, but 4K native clips now scroll by (in multiple layers!) like it was nothing! Definitely a worthwhile investment, especially now that prices on SSD hard drives have come down considerably. Also, Ive never had a WD drive crash on me and I anticipate this drive will serve me dependably as well.

> 3 day29 May 2023: A review for two purchased: Western Digital 1TB WD Red SA500 NAS 3D NAND Internal SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, 2.5/7mm. Ive had them a couple of months. No problems. Got them to replace two Samsung 870EVOs that died in a little less than 2 years. Samsung has some real problems and it took over 3 months to get replacements under warranty from Samsung. Right after they failed, I switched to these Western Digitals because I have used WD drives since 1994 and in my little life in my little home WD drives have been stellar performers. I have to say that all my past experience with WD has been with spinning platters. I hope these solid state drives are also reliable. Breakneck speeds dont impress me much. I just love good performance for a long, long time. So...the RED line from WD is supposed to be exactly that--constant running over the long haul in devices. Yep. I hope that is true. WD, do it to me again. I need you.

> 3 dayThey were an easy replacement for my 4TB Seagate QNAP NAS drives. Ive had 4 of these SSDs running in my TVS-471 for 3 months and they are fast, reliable and silent! I know they are expensive compared with Hard Disks, but the additional speed and silent operation makes them worth it. Using MKV for movie transfers to my NAS are much faster and Plex is less likely to transcode to a lower resolution. 4K movies are delivered cleanly to my various Samsung and LG big screens. I also upgraded my QNAP from an i5 to an i7 and added two M.2 1Tb drives for caching.

07-06-2025Failed after 9 months in a moderate-use Synology fileserver used as a write cache - due to wearout. Probably a fine drive for a home user, but dont sell it for NAS use if it cant even last a year in a NAS.

> 3 dayI bought this SSD to install into my SSD USB holder to convert it into a USB 1T drive for travel use. So far it has held up wonderfully and I can bring just about every file I need without dealing with multiple USB drives or DVDs for software and documents. Id highly recommend this drive for anyone looking to carry more capacity but fewer USB drives, as this can replace 4 x 256 GB USB drives.
