This is a nice size for needle felting. Its a good thickness and feels sturdy when felting and doesnt leave any residue like a sponge mat does.

I am new to felting. This pad seems just right. I have made a little mouse and am working on a bunny. You can felt pieces on the pad and easily lift them off with no fibers coming off the pad. The size and depth of the pad are great too. I can see this lasting a long time. Good purchase!

I am learning how to do flat, or 2D, needle felting. I have been using a sponge mat, which is fine, but the background fabric moves around unless you pin it down, and it also is starting to get compacted down in the center. My teacher recommended a wool mat, so I ordered this one and it is great! It holds the fabric in place so you don’t have to pin it and so far doesn’t sink down in the center where I do most of the felting work. My instructor’s is still holding its shape well and she has been using it for quite a while.
