ZYLISS Right Scoop Gray

> 3 dayFirst impressessions are that this is the best scoop ever but then over time it starts to pit and they grow and grow. I take good care of it and hand wash it after use but think of this as a disposable 1 -2 year scoop at best. It must be a poor choice of materials as this is my 3rd scoop and every one has had the same problem. Buying the second one, I just thought the first was a fluke. Now after the 3rd one, which was a replacement, had the same issue, I just cant justify buying another.

Greater than one weekEasy to scoop ice cream, even straight out of the freezer. I purposely bought it because it can be put in the dishwasher.

> 3 dayThey said it was the best. They are right. I tossed out the other lesser ice cream scoop wanna bes.The Zyliss scoop is attractive, fits well in the hand and does the job for any ice cream.

> 3 dayI have had one of these for at least 7 years. I bought this one as a gift for my parents, because I was sick of using the one they had at their house that didnt work well.

18-11-2024Ive know Zyliss as a leading Swiss brand for cookware from when I was a kid growing up there. No doubt, the scoop is expertly engineered: its well balanced and decidedly solid to cut through the hardest ice cream, but the one I was provided was poorly manufactured. After a couple months small blisters and pitting started showing and now, a year on theyve grown to downright holes 2-3 mm (just under 1/8) in diameter. Its clear that the metal was cast too hot (hence the pitting) and an attempt to grind out the pits revealed that the stainless steel the scoop had been marketed as at the time was merely nickel-plated copper! Since the potential for copper oxides and food residue inside the holes represents a health hazard, the scoop has ended up in the Güsel, the Swiss-German word for the trash bin. Tsk, tsk, tsk, what leading Swiss household brands have come to!
