It works.

One of the two lamps cracked after 5 minutes and stopped working altogether after two hours. The other lamp works fine for now (about 10 hours). The lamp provides good heat as expected. The thermometer is a cheap unit designed for an aquarium. It takes about 10 minutes to equilibrium to the ambient temperature and provide a reasonable measurement. Useless for my needs.
