> 3 dayI just purchased the Denon AVRX4700H and am using it in a 5.4.2 configuration. I have it sitting in an enclosed cabinet. I even installed fans on the back panel of the cabinet to help circulation of air. Even with this, the Denon runs alarmingly hot. With modern day AVRs, the manufacturers are no longer installing switched a/c outlets on the back to alow for fans or other peripherals to turn on when you power up your system. I purchased the S8 which has a thermal switch that engages the fans. This psrticular model exhausts the air to the back of cabinet. I set it in auto and selected the middle fan speed. 5 minutes into Mulan, the unit kicked on and was dead silent with cabinet doors shut. Its amazing how cool this kept the Denon playing at near reference level. With the doors open, I could not hear the fans running from 11 feet with the middle speed selected. With doors closed, the high setting was still very hard to hear. A cool feature is the smart mode which turns fans on when heat is sensed and varies fan speed depending on temperature variations. The build quality is fantastic, and the larger, 3 fan version fits the standard size AVR perfectly. Other reviewers took the feet off and installed rubber weather stripping along base to increase efficiency....I dont think this is required and can potentially damage temp sensor. Exceeded all expectations! Highly recommended!

> 3 dayIf your receiver sits in an enclosed cabinet with limited circulation, this fan will keep it cool whenever heat begins to build up. My cabinet’s vent is behind the receiver so I bought the S8 for rear discharge of heat. Be sure to know where your cabinet or enclosure vent is located so you can select the correct model. This thing comes on automatically when certain temperature is reached and has an indicator showing how much speed the fan is turning while extracting heat.

> 3 dayGreat product. I use this on top of my Denon receiver to help keep it cool. Works wonders to keep the receiver cool as it heats up quite a bit during regular use. I also have an AC infinity Airplate mounted in the back of my entertainment stand pushing this air out the back of the stand. Together these work wonders. Highly recommend the S8 to anyone that wants to keep their receiver cool.

> 3 dayWell made like a industrial computer or HiFi gear. Looks like it belongs with the rest of the system. Cools well and quietly. I only use the lowest 2 speed settings because thats all thats needed for my amplifier. The top two speeds would be too noticeable for me. The rear exhaust works well for my setup. I have been using homegrown improvised cooling until now, this is much better.

> 3 dayThe Aircom S8 sits atop my Ayre VX-5 Twenty amp and vents to the rear of the rack. Even with this fairly hot running amp it stays in the bottom half of its fan speed and remains inaudible.
