I spent a long time doing a lot of research on different gaming laptops and which ones offered the best performance for their respective prices. This laptop had been in a lot of the reviews I read and watched, but never quite took the number one spot for an array of (arbitrary and bias things) in my opinion, like coming in second to a razor laptop because it looks less childish or that while they were impressed with its performance the other (always more expensive) laptop slightly edged out the Nitro 5 by a negligible margin, and therefore is better. In all the articles and reviews and videos I found testing out this laptop, one thing stood out to me; every single review (except one guy who recommended a laptop thats about $500 more lol) all said how impressed they were, considering what it costs. I finally bought the laptop, and man am I glad I did. If youre wondering which model to go for, Id personally recommend the i5 model because in a couple of the testing videos I watched, the i5 model would be pitted against its i7 counterpart and in almost all the testing would only perform ever so slightly above the i5 models in some tests, and in most was equivalent or ended up thermal throttling and losing by a significant amount. Basically, it doesnt make sense to spend the price difference for the better processor thats only sometimes better and only slightly so when it is. Another thing I found with this laptop is, is that the battery life is actually quite impressive for the hardware and size of the laptop. Some reveiws on professional PC sites claimed horrific battery life of only 3 1/2 hrs with 4hrs at absolute best. I dont know if they didnt properly update/install drivers or maybe they just had the laptop during a bug in the driver software, but when I set mine into power save mode and disable features Im not using like Bluetooth and the GPU (yes you can do that) I was seeing an average of about 6 hours while browsing the web, checking email, and even some youtube watching. I also found the speakers that were supposedly a big let down and basically useless according to another professional PC reveiwer to be totally fine. They definitely arent gonna blow you away or make a MacBook Pro feel insignificant, but considering the price of the laptop, and all the performance it delivers in so many other fields, they are as good and maybe even slightly better than I was expecting. As for every other aspect of this laptop, m.2 nvme Intel optane as the standard included storage with another m.2 nvme slot available AND an available 2.5 ssd bay with the hardware needed included, AND a second available ram slot so that you can upgrade without having to spend an arm and a leg on a big single ram stick, and can take advantage of dual channel is f***ing awesome for a laptop, let alone one at this price! At the end of the day, if youre like me and looking at basically every gaming laptop ever made to try and find the best one for the price, I have to say go for this one. Every other comparable laptop performance wise, is NOT comparable price wise, and visa versa.

I wanted to write a review about this to say first, lots of the reviews I read comment on the backlighting of the keyboard and how it turns off after 30 seconds and there is nothing you can do to change that. I found that is incorrect. The computer has a NITRO control center and inside that window there is a little settings wheel in the top right corner, if you click that button, you can choose to click off the selection to turn off the backlighting after 30 seconds. I found the keys going dark every 30 seconds to be super annoying but now they stay on all the time and its great! I did not buy this for gaming, my company IT department recommended a gaming type of laptop for the computing needs of my job and this was one they recommended. The system works well for my needs. I enjoy the high resolution screen, seamless program operation, plug in options, soft touch keys, and many other features of this laptop. I travel for work at times and this is heavy and large to travel with, but I accept the trade off for the computing power that I need on the budget I have. I would recommend.

Bought the laptop for my teenager, mostly for gaming and personal use. She was so happy when she received it..I have not heard of any issues or complaints from her, besides that battery quality could be better. Overall a good buy

Finally bit the bullet and got this for my tween son. Hes loved online gaming for years, but never had a PC/laptop that could perform well enough to satisfy him. He was elated to receive this for Christmas and has been using it non-stop for online school and online gaming. Im impressed with this little beasts performance. Cooling is also phenomenal. I can feel the fans 6 away when we game together, and it definitely keeps the components well within comfortable operating temperatures.

This will be short and sweet. The laptop is pretty good as a budget laptop that is able to run console level of graphics. The fan gets loud. My biggest problem is reading stuff on amazon stating the usb type-c can output for video. Im pretty sure that is a lie. My laptop does not connect to my monitor via type-c, unless Im missing something.

If I could give zero stars I would. Bought the laptop 1 1/2 ago and is barely used. Randomly shut itself off while using one day and will not restart. Doesn’t even recognize charger. Took to a repair company and motherboard needs replacement. Cannot even talk to Acer support, just connects you to a third party that tells you it’s out of warranty. Acer does not stand behind their product at all. Save the headache and purchase another brand.

Bought for my son to do light gaming on - which it works fine for. But very surprised with the expandability. 2 slots for NVMe drives and a bay for a SATA full size SSD, all usable. 3 HDDs in a laptop!

Performance is on point for the specs, weight is light, battery life is okay but if youre playing games it should probably be plugged in, It runs somewhat loud and hot when the GPU is in use. Ive only had a year of use so far.
