Retired after 43 years in the trades a decided to learn about ac installation while installing a mini split heat pump on our recently enclosed back porch. I know the value of quality tools, and almost every YT video about these installs used the Appion core removal tool. Well worth the money, you won’t be sorry.

Looks like a solid piece of equipment. Keep in mind these things come in different sizes. I should’ve ordered the 5/16

I used this during a mini-split installation. My mitsubishi has a 1/4 service port so I didnt need any 5/16 adapter like whats required with some other manufacturers. Before the actual installation, I pressure tested this with 300 PSI of nitrogen overnight, and then practiced removing and re-installing a valve core on my workbench. I ended up having to slightly bend the teeth at the end of the core tool to get a good grip on the valve core, but the instructions explain how to do it, so it was no problem. I am really happy with the construction of this tool, and I dont recommend trying to save a few bucks by buying a cheaper brand instead.

Severely disappointed with this purchase! Have yet to be able to remove a core with it. When micron gauge is connected it will not pull down below 1100 (multiple attempts) but taking my gauge off the appion and putting it on my C&D it pulled down and held at 306 for decay test. And to top it off....I was evacuating a system today, shut the valve on the appion and disconnected my hose to insert valve stem and heard hissing. Put my finger over the end of the appion and low and behold...the vacuum was sucking air back into the system through this POS! Too late to return. FML and my 50$ smh

Doesnt really save your life but will save much time to remove faulty valve cores without pump down. Plus vacuum rated!
