I got this to replace an ancient iMac running ancient DAW software (MOTU DP7) in my home studio. I had an eye towards being able to take it on the road with a small audio interface, while most of the time it would be the heart of my studio with a large external monitor (or two) and a small footprint on my desk. And while I was at it, have it run Ableton Live Suite 11.

I have owned a used 2013 and 2016 MacBook Pros. I also have a new desktop from 2013. I was considering updating my desktop when my relative who works in IT suggested getting rid of all the older technology and buying a new MacBook Pro and a 32 inch screen. After some thought I figured if anything went wrong with the screen on my desktop after an upgrade I would be sunk. Since the desktop contains all the running hardware it would be a total loss if the screen died. Therefore my best ROI would be to invest in a new laptop and 32 inch screen. Thankful I made the change with 18 months to pay for the laptop interest free. I will never go back to a Windows machine, too many system problems, viruses and blue screens for me. The constant need to pay for upgrades and MS refusal to support legacy products is a rip off too. I have never had issues with my OS in Mac. No viruses or system problems, free upgrade of OS and fixes for bugs without blue screens.

I went from an Early 2015 MacBook Pro 13 inch Retina display to this unit. The older computer had over 1600 battery cycles on it, but was still working well (just with more frequent charging needed). This one has a more robust battery, and Im putting about 10 battery cycles on it each month. Im really enjoying the larger screen, and the Touch ID feature is great. Yes, it is weighs a bit more, but Im glad I didnt let that stop me.

Just got my device today, Doesnt boot up, reason unknown, asked amazon for assistance. They told me they could only give me a refund. Waste of time and money. Going to Apple now.

I replaced an older, slower laptop. It improved performances once I got familiar thew protocols.
