> 3 dayThese are good for beginners, but depending on how you want to use your paint youre going to be in for a time. The Good 1. If you work directly from a tube and dont want to bother with color mixing, these will suit you fine. 2. Theyre pretty cheap at less than $1/tube, so you can experiment with them without breaking the bank. The Bad 1. These little tubes are prone to getting stuck or even exploding. This usually isnt a problem, because you can always just pot an exploded tube, but... 2. These are not really made to work from dry. At all. Most of the metallic colors actually turn to plastic bricks and wont rehydrate no matter what wizardry you throw at them because theyre acrylic gouaches. TL;DR: Overall these feel like student-grade gouache. They offer a great amount of surface coverage (very desirable in a student-grade paint!) and many premixed colors that make life easier if you dont want to have to mix all your colors. But even though Arteza swears these are artist grade Id say youre better off not expecting artist-grade paint for less than a $1/tube! You Have to Work Straight From The Tube Personally I work from dry pans. Its not everyones bag and if youre cool with digging through a giant box of tubes and dont want a color organized pallet, this isnt going to bother you as much! I dried these for a week in pans along with some Winsor and Newton colors to see how they stacked up. The Arteza paints lost 2/3 their volume due to evaporation (which isnt always bad, you can usually rehydrate them) while the Winsors lost only 1/4. Some Colors are Acrylic Gouache Most of the metallic colors in this set seem to have some kind of acrylic or plasticized base and will not rehydrate at all (youll see what I mean if you check out the rehydrated pallet image). Once the paint sets you wont be able to rework it and thats just a big problem for me when working with something fungible like gouache. I can generally get 3 fills of a halfpan out of a 15ml tube of artist grade paint, but I could maybe get 2x tops out of these because of all the evaporation. Poor Color Mixing Ive had issues with creating custom color mixes, probably because some colors have plastic bases and others have different levels of fillers and the like. This is a paint meant to be used straight from the tube! I spoke with a representative from Arteza that told me they couldnt tell me the percentage of binders/fillers/pigment in their product, only that they use peach gum. They told me that theyd have their scientists look into the issues I experienced but... yeah. An aside: do not buy the Arteza spiral bound watercolor notebooks. These are pulp paper (wood paper; your paint will sink to the bottom of the paper and buckle, very messy!) that will give you terrible results! If youre on a budget get some Canson XL Watercolor Coldpress paper, or Arches Coldpress foldover notebooks. Both of these are going to make even eh paint shine and help you save time and money if youre just starting out!

> 3 dayI am finding the paints fun! Although to be honest? TOO many colors...perhaps ship in a tray style and less? I know whining. NO they are great I just live so tiny. Yes, I think they are great.

> 3 dayI love these paints for practice sketching. However I can not give them 5 stars due to the fact they mold super quick. I have waste quick a bit of paint cleaning out the mold. Otherwise I would recommend them.

> 3 dayThe box arrived slightly damaged front when outside. Inside, it was another story. It looked like the set I received had been used. Most of the top-layer tubes were crumbled; one of them had been opened or leaked out and the paint was everywhere. The side tabs of the top trays showed also some damage being crumbled and even rip in places but the tray themselves were fine (hence my wondering if this set was second hand and repackaged since it looked that someone hd already pried the top level trays out). I contacted the Arteza, the seller, four days ago but I have heard back at all. So sad.

> 3 dayI use gouache a lot in all my works because im a graphic designer. Ive used all types of brands from artist loft to holbein gouache and of course, nothing can compare to the winsor and newton and holbein gouache but I will say this. This gouache is so much more better than Artist loft and reeves gouache. Its so smooth and the amount of colors you get is amazing for the price. Honestly this is definitely up there with Winsor and Newton and Holbein. My favorite color is definitely bronze. One issue I do have tho is that the color on the actual tube does not match the paint on the inside so i will recommend a swatch sheet! I will buy this again and again!

> 3 dayComing from a beginner with guache this paint is pretty decent. Pros: - color selection - rich, vibrant colors -pearl colors are really beautiful - paint layed down pretty smooth and dried to a matte finish. -a little goes a long way - gives you two white colors which is great for mixing. Cons - some of the colors are a bit transparent , even the ones that are marked opaque. This is most prominent when laying a lighter color over a darker color (ex. Black). This can be remedied by adding less water or a second layer. - pearl colors are beautiful but did not lay well over darker colors. - not many skin shades in this kit so be ready to mix colors.

Greater than one weekI love these paints! only docked a star because you cannot purchase the individual tubes if you run out of a color. if Arteza starts doing individual tubes then I would change it for 5 stars! You get a huge amount of colors and therr are often $10 off coupons especially on Amazon. I tried the Reeves gouache and the Masters Touch gouache at my local hobby stores and these Arteza paints are by far the best ones Ive tried. No streakiness and the selection of colors makes for infinite color mixing options! -Tasha Null of Null and Void Art

> 3 daySorry for the bad swatches, but I really wanted to show what each color looked like. This set was worth every penny because you get colors that would take forever to achieve if you were to do mixing and I also like the color stories that were already set up for you in the box. My swatches are each color story that was premade. The gouache is very creamy, pigmented, and drys to a nice matte finish. They can be layered easily on top of one another and with the color range you can make alot of unique art pieces. Its important to note that even when watered down they still are pigmented. I highly recommend this set for beginners and those who arent a fan of mixing paint and just want colors laid out.
