Update: got on the phone with ASUS and they walked me through several steps with a great deal of patience and now it is my perfect littl.e laptop again. Previous review...Bought this Asus laptop in June 30th of 2020. It was a fine little laptop...the finger recognition was iffy, but it never let me down. Then this morning1/5/2021 it went biserk flickering, the mouse and the touch pad stopped working, the sound turned off and will not come back on, it will not allow me to log on to SOPtv, Netflix or Amazon Prime movies....and typing this is taking forever as it types one letter at a time...with several seconds between letters. I had my previous Asus for several years and it was great....not happy as I have a great deal of business to conduct in the next couple of days and this computer is NOT reliable.

To be transparent - I bought the 14 inch version of this, same specs but a Ryzen 3 processor (comparable to this one). Initially, there was a problem with the screen dimming so much when I tried to work from the battery the laptop became virtually unusable. After a 25 minute call to ASUS, the problem was fixed. However I realized that in fixing it, I lost the battery icon and had no way to know how much battery I had left. That necessitated a second call to ASUS. Once we completed that call, the original problem of the screen dimming was back, so I called a third time and finally got a fix (had to go into the bios again). Was it worth the hassle - time will tell, Ive only had it two days. As of now, it is sufficiently fast for basic office applications and for online activity. I do not do gaming and suspect youd want a Ryzen 5 processor or better for real gamers. The speakers, which are located on the underneath and both sides, are just fine. The backlit keyboard is nice. The charging cable is really flimsy and I dont know why they would skimp there. It feels like it is well-built and it is attractive. If it hadnt been such a hassle, Id be more enthusiastic. As it is, it is perfectly fine for my uses but I am still considering returning it, although I dont feel like starting the whole process over again. Im cooked and dont want to have to think about computers for a long time! I knocked one star off for all the hassle, otherwise, for the price I paid from another vendor, it was great.

This is one of the best decisions I ever made in terms of selecting a laptop for me. I never have the best of luck with laptops but when I looked at the storage and all the specifications, I knew this was right for me. For anyone looking to play Sims 4 with cc, this is the RIGHT laptop! This is the best I ever had!

The charger shorted out/stopped working the 3rd day after we recieved the computer. The first replacement I bought on Amazon didnt fit, despite an assurance it would. ASUS should spend an extra dollar or two on their charge cords if this is not an isolated incident.

This screen is very dim. The price is not good. Lacking features (usbc will not power a monitor). Totally died and wont power back up after a very minimal use (just use it for traveling). Will never buy an Asus again.
