If youre going to buy a childrens video, by all means buy this video for your two year old and older child. I highly recommend it compared to other kids videos because it is engaging, fun, educational and not cartoon animated or fast-paced. Having said that, I have a beef with the title Baby Einstein and marketing this to BABIES. It seems to imply that watching these videos is good for babies, which they are NOT! These videos may be great for older kids, but definitely NOT for babies brains! After some research I found out that: 1) brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping. 2) for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%, 3) for every hour of television viewed daily at 4 yrs old, there is a significant odds increase for being a bully later on, and 4)consistent, heavy television viewing (more than 2 hrs daily) throughout early childhood can cause behavior, sleep and attention problems. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television for children under 2, and no more than two hours of media (tv, videos, video games & computers) daily after age 2! I think its important for parents and caregivers to be aware of this so they can make better informed choices. I hope it encourages some people to limit television usage for babies and look for other outlets when possible. For those looking to calm babies and build better brains, I recommend baby carriers because studies show that infants who are carried an extra 3 hours per day cry 40% less, and this effect is lasting over time! Frequently held babies pick up verbal skills faster and develop better core muscle strength and balance. Also, learning to communicate in sign language can reduce frustration and tantrums, accelerate language development and promote parent-child bonding in infants and toddlers.

This one doesnt seem to hold her attention for very long. I should check the age, maybe she is too young at 18 months. I also wish she would spare us the marketing in the begining of the video that you cant fast forward. My baby dont need to see that crap.

I am very disappointed in this video. My 16-month daughter seems to like to like it somewhat, but it doesnt hold her interest like the other Einstein videos, with the exception of the sign language part. I have instructed my daughter in American Sign Language so that is why she is interested. However, do not be mistaken in thinking that this is American Sign Language. Where as some signs are, others ARE NOT AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE. This is very disappointing to me. I want her to learn proper sign language so she will be able to use it in the future if need be. What is the purpose in learning a made up language???? In addition, they only show the sign once before going on to something else. If you really want a good video that teaches sign language to infants/toddlers, I recommend BABY SEE N SIGN. This is an excellent video and my daughter picks this video out to watch more than any other video she has.

Lets just say it is no Signing Time! And worse, its not even a decent Baby Einstein. There is very little music. There is only a little narration. Though I adore Marlee Matlin, she is a little wooden in this video. There is only one other person signing, the same child all the way through and she looks about 7 or 8. Each sign is repeated twice. I know there are many different signs for many different words, but they are often different from the ASL I am teaching my daughter. At first, I thought they were trying to make the signs more intuitive for toddlers. Then came puzzle and blocks both of which were also different from the signs I learned, and both of which were VERY complex for small children. This video does not hold my childs interest at all. She would happily sit for 3 hours and watch all 6 Signing Time! videos back-to-back if I let her, but did not make it through 5 minutes of this before running off to play.

Best of all from Moms perspective on learning words (in three verbal languages)and signing. Still interested after my 16 month old viewed a number of times, especially in other languages. Use as basis for naming things around the house just like the DVD.

My son is 15 months old and loves most of the Baby Einstein DVDs that we have. This one doesnt seem to hold his interest as much as some of the others do. It is very educational with sections teaching him new words and how to sign those new words, but this section moves rather slowly and I think he likes the sections with the music and visuals better. His favorites right now are Baby Bach, Neighborhood Animals and Baby Neptune.

This is a great product! I bought it for my nephew and he was already signing a few words after the first time we watched it. The music and children in the video kept his attention.

We love the series but this one lacks. Its too slow paced to keep my daughters attention. She likes Baby Noah (animals) much better. This is good if you are teaching sign language.
