> 24 hourUPDATE***** Old review below. The projector made it just about 3 years of use and 1400 hours, now HDMI ports totally dead. It will not run a long 4k HDMI cable. Wont work. The her setting is so white washed its useless, unless you are able to figure how to set it properly. Non hdr it works great. Has an auto sense for projector fitment. Have never touched the focus and non hdr colors look very good.

> 24 hourthis projector has a great SDR picture I cant find any fault there. The Problem is I purchased this for HDR content. My projector upon entering HDR mode becomes so saturated with yellow that the BenQ built in menus show up yellow. I have reached out multiple times to BenQ for help and/or a resolution. All of these attempts fall on deaf ears if they reach any at all. Multiple calls with no answer after half an hour or more wait. multiple attempts to leave a voicemail only for the mailbox to not allow Messages. Two emails now dating back to the 13th of May 2020 (today is the 27th). To say the customer experience is horrible may be giving it to much credit. I havent had an experience yet. I am hoping I can save someone else doing their research the heart ache. You may get lucky and get a perfect unit, but if you arent into high stakes gambling without a great reward pass on it.

> 24 hourAbsolutely LOVE this projector. However, the bulb/lamp burned out after only a few hours of use. Luckily it was within the return period so Amazon replaced it with a new one.

> 24 hourExcellent picture quality right out of the box. Can’t beat this level of quality at set price point. Overall very solid projector. You will not be disappointed.

> 24 hourSDR quality is good, and HDR without the Wide Color Gamut filter is engaged looks very good...However, when the WCG filter is engaged, it adds a distinctly blue/green tint to the image. It doesnt just reduce brightness as I have read about. Wish I could watch in DCI-P3 HDR mode, but it just doesnt look good at all. Also, when I have a white on black image on the screen, say the white text on the Eco Blank screen, or white movie credits on black background there is a significant blue/purple shadow around the text. This is only noticeable up close, not really at normal viewing distance. Looks to me like chromatic aberration from the lens. Is this normal for this model? Finally, in 4k 24fps mode, there is a loud, annoying rattle. Maybe a fan, but I think its part of the pixel shifting mechanism...its quite loud. Maybe 2-3x louder than the fan, even on Normal lamp mode. The rattle does not occur in 30 or 60 fps modes..only in 4k/24. I really wanted to leave a 5-star review for this projector, since I decided to upgrade to this unit from the Optoma UHD50 that I was going to buy, but with the issues Im having, I just cant...I tried emailing BenQ tech support, but have not heard back from them in several weeks, and have tried calling their tech support phone number for several days now but cant get through, so not impressed with their customer service either at this point either... I havent decided whether Im keeping this projector or not yet. It has all of the features I want, and looks pretty amazing in SDR mode, so Im really hoping BenQ gets back to me soon and makes this right, so I can get the full benefit out of it. Maybe their Customer Service team monitors Amazon reviews more than they check their email or answer their phones...

> 24 hourDon’t buy a BenQ projector. My HT3550 broke twice. The first time the fan broke, and I was sent a replacement a few weeks later. The second time it broke the bulb randomly exploded filling the inside with broken glass. Both experienced dead pixels. BenQ’s customer service is absolutely terrible. BenQ ruined my dream of having a home theater.

> 24 hourThe picture quality is outstanding, not just for the money but for any projector. In a dedicated room with a proper screen and light control it will rival anything you could see at your local digital theater. The colors are unbelievably vivid and the image is very sharp. There are several preconfigured modes, two of which are calibrated at the factory to meet 100% of Rec 709 and 96% of DCI P3. The only issue I had was that the HDR mode wasn’t calibrated at all and all the faces looked like something out Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Inspecting the color manager I found all the settings set to 200. I matched the color manager settings to the calibrated D. Cinema mode and it now has a more color accurate HDR image than my calibrated P Series Vizio LED TV. The bright HDR highlights of the projector can’t match the TV but in a light controlled theater room it looks amazing. Interstellar on UHD BD looks like looking through a window. The Dynamic Iris really brings out the details in dark HDR programs like Ozark in a way that I would say is almost equal to the local dimming of my LED TV. Now your experience will very greatly on your own setup. I have a dedicated room with .5 gain grey walls and ceiling and a 100” 1.0 gain grey screen. I sit about 9’ from the screen. I run it in Eco in all modes except HDR where it needs Normal to give full effect, and Smart Eco in Vivid which is bright enough for sports with the room lights at 20% This was a direct replacement for the HT2050 and it fit my setup without modification.
